Interviewed a backend developer. Guy was at 21 LPA. We offered 28 LPA, roughly a 33 percent hike. He agreed and confirmed joining. Yesterday he emailed saying he got a 32 LPA offer elsewhere and now wants 36 LPA from us. Nonsense. Why agree in the first place. If you are still shopping offers just say it upfront. We stopped interviewing other candidates and waited through the notice period for the joining date. Now two days before joining, he came back with a new price tag.

The mining cost per BTC isn't just "energy is energy." Iran's subsidized electricity rate is fixed and ultra-low (~$0.005/kWh), but the *kWh needed to mine one BTC* varies with network difficulty. When BTC traded >$110k (higher profitability), hashrate surged → difficulty rose → more total energy required per coin mined → higher effective cost ($1,300 estimate from that era). In lower-price recent months, less competition → difficulty fell → fewer kWh per BTC → lower cost. That's why it got "cheaper" despite the same power price.

Bitcoin’s biggest shadow seller just went offline. Iran has been mining BTC at $1,300 per coin. Cut off from SWIFT and the global banking system, they used it for funding. His son launched a Bitcoin mining company. He wants America to be the “crypto capital of the world.” You don’t become the crypto capital by competing with a country that mines Bitcoin for $1,320. You bomb their grid.
