@drkeithsiau @yomamasmonolog2 I know "a girl's vagus" sounds more clinically appropriate.
English

@yomamasmonolog2 That sounds less X-rated than the mnemonic I learnt 😅

@HENRYY_MD @glinglerimek Always a beauty among all skin lesions for me.. and molluscum, and cylindroma..

@yoganandht @drkeithsiau Saw the report. They used vials for multiple doses. Needle is only for the draw of medications. It's the syringe body being reused. Problem is the PX are ina an IV cannula. Reflux of blood always happens. Great theory. Reality physics bites.
English

@drkeithsiau Reusing syringes/needles is absolutely criminal to say the least. I was just speculating about ways by which transmission can occur.
English

According to a shocking report by BBC News, 331 children tested positive for HIV in one single city in Pakistan, likely due to transmission through infected syringes.
These children were diagnosed within a single year in the Punjab province of Pakistan. Investigators ruled out vertical transmission in the majority of cases where mothers tested negative. Staff were seen to reuse syringe bodies (after changing the needle). Medical procedures were commonly performed without gloves. Some children have sadly died of complications of HIV, and the fate of many remains unclear.
An important learning point was found - a syringe contains a needle connected to the syringe body. Even if you change the needle, the syringe body can still be a reservoir for infection. If you see this in your practice, please point it out, as this can avoid an unnecessary tragedy.

@hermionelee82 @ricci_richy Also Philhealth pays what is feels is a ln appropriate amount in terms of hospital cost and pfs. If your MD charges 1million for dengue, Philhealth is certainly not going to pay for that. Same with hospital bills. Remembr private hospitals are in this for money.
English

@hermionelee82 @ricci_richy Before people blame Philhealth, just remember it is government funds. Expect most benefit to come from government hospitals.
Private hospital are created to generate money. Their goal is profit.
So don't expect Philhealth to cover everything in private care.

@docakx That bug can be found all over the world, but the disease can only be found in the Americas (at least endemic)
