The most optimistic take on this game is that every year, the Chiefs lose 1 game they absolutely should have won because they kept shooting themselves in the foot: Colts last year, Titans in 2019, Chargers in 2018. As long as it's not in the playoffs (Bengals in 2021), it's fine.

It's unfortunate for the Chiefs, but good for the NFL, that football is still a team game. Patrick Mahomes absolutely deserved to win tonight. But the Chiefs absolutely deserved to lose.
