One is allowed to protect themselves but their actions have to be proportional to the potential danger. Otherwise we will have people choking out others for looking at them the wrong way. I'm not saying Penny had no right for defense, only trying to determine whether his precise actions were justified based on Neely's threat that day. Which there are some unknowns around. Also, there were three men restraining him, why was he put in a choke rather than held by them? Again, there are some unanswered questions, hence the need for some due process. Proportionality of reaction is an important thing for society to factor in. Now, it may turn out that Penny's actions were indeed justified for some reason, but there are many things that the public does not currently know & yet acts as if it does.

The moral of the Jordan Neely story isn’t complicated: he was a habitual offender who should’ve been behind bars or in a mental institution, not free to terrorize New Yorkers. If local police had been allowed to do their jobs, that man would still be alive today - in custody.

And that's a LOW DOSE of a popular, LOW KEY cannabis product on the market today. I cannot believe it. We legalized and scientifically optimized what used to be a relatively weak social drug into normalized CRACK that people use alone for everyday life.
