Introducing Willow, our new state-of-the-art quantum computing chip with a breakthrough that can reduce errors exponentially as we scale up using more qubits, cracking a 30-year challenge in the field. In benchmark tests, Willow solved a standard computation in <5 mins that would take a leading supercomputer over 10^25 years, far beyond the age of the universe(!).

Last month, a number sent me malware via an APK titled 'Union Bank Aadhar Update' on Whatsapp. These typically just lamely forward all SMSes received to steal OTPs, but this one turned out to be a significantly more sophisticated op. Some notes from taking down a scam network:

In 1997, Julia Hill climbed a 200-foot 1000-year-old Californian redwood tree and did not come down for 738 days to prevent Pacific Lumber Company loggers from cutting it down. She ultimately reached an agreement with the company to spare the tree and a 200-foot buffer zone surrounding it.

We had a union minister in our office campus today for inaugurating a new office space for a well known tech company. I went in around 5.30 AM to the office as usual. There were around 50 workers there for setting up things for him, and later found that an equal or more number of security folks were all over the campus. They setup a carpet from the main gate till the office, covered in plastic for him to walk on and made sure no one steps on it lest a footstep spoil the look for the minister. Everyone was checked while entering, couple of lifts were blocked for a few hours. This is not new, and probably not even that much compared to what goes on at other places but amuses me every time to see so much productivity loss for such trivial things. Also had a couple of foreign team mates visiting us today and they were surprised to see how much was being done for a minister's visit and I had to explain to them that in India, government isn't for "serving people" but for getting served since this is their prize for winning the quest for power (elections)
