Three Michigan Medicine doctors have been selected and recognized by Crain’s Detroit Business for being notable leaders in health care technology.
H.D. Humes, M.D., a nephrologist at U-M, successfully treated a child in severe septic shock and multiorgan failure using a Selective Cytopheretic Device, a new therapeutic tool he helped develop and received emergency approval to use in the case.
@ToddCHollon , M.D., developed FastGlioma and DeepGlioma, two AI-based tools that improve the detection of residual brain tumors and rapidly screen for genetic mutations, respectively, with an average accuracy of more than 90%.
And @matthew_willsey, M.D., Ph.D., and his team completed the first in-human recording from a novel, wireless brain-computer interface, the Connexus BCI by Paradromics Inc., which was implanted during a temporal lobectomy and aims to restore functions lost due to injury or disease.
