"...brought to manipulate the judicial process"
On today's ruling slamming Trump, his lawyers and DOJ for the settlement to end his IRS lawsuit. At a minimum, it appears to undermine part of the deal that gives Trump immunity from audits into past tax filings, among other sanctions

Senate needs to grill Todd Blanche on slush fund, Epstein files, firing DOJ employees, and targeting Trump rivals, but most important is his vision for AG. Does he plan to follow the rule of law or act as Trump’s puppet? My thoughts in @opinion.bloomberg.com

Judge Williams is absolutely unstinting in her criticism of the government in the "original" slush fund case. This is the one Trump filed in Florida against the IRS, which I wrote about here if you want a refresher on the backstory: joycevance.substack.com/p/the-week-ahe…

Court has found what we knew all along. Blanche’s “settlement” with Trump providing tax immunity was illegal self-dealing. Trump barred from using it and lawyers sanctioned. Great to see a court call out the corruption.

All over but the shouting in the first of E Jean Carroll‘s defamation case cases to make it to SCOTUS, only to have them refuse Trump‘s appeal. Procedural details here, for those who like the legal stuff—that’s how Carroll & her lawyer Robbie Kaplan won; they persisted.

Here’s the problem: we can no longer believe the government when it makes these kinds of statements after its agents kill someone. That’s a very dangerous place for a democracy to be. Read the full analysis here: open.substack.com/pub/joycevance…

Judge Kaplan:
“In the last analysis, defendant has been stalling this case for years. A jury unanimously concluded that he sexually abused and defamed plaintiff and awarded her damages accordingly. The judgment on that verdict has been upheld on appeal. En bane rehearing has been denied. The Supreme Court has denied certiorari without dissent. It is time for him to "do equity" and pay the judgment.”
