@pastelteacher @MrBoothY6 The best teachers were the individuals. My best results were from those teachers who stood out and weren't robots. If human individuality was irrelevant we would be taught by robots... The clue is in the fact we are not.

@AlistairDewar2 @Headteacherchat Compassion matters 👍 but preparing them for the world more so. If we teach kids deadlines, punctuality and standards don’t apply, we’re setting them up to fail.... The reason I'm never late is becuase I was lucky enough to have teachers who understood this.

@slayedbythebell @Headteacherchat Just remember you are an adult the student is not They are potentially dealing with huge things out of their control. A little compassion can go a long way. If you were dealing with an issue in your personal life you would expect, and rightly so, to be dealt with in a kind way.

When children arrive late, they still chose to show up. That’s worth acknowledging. A simple 'I’m glad you’re here' can mean more than a reprimand.

@KyrstieStubbs Not all teachers are ready to teach the same thing at the same time, in the same way... And yet slt still put me on RE....despite being a trained maths teacher 😂.

@MBDscience Takeaway: don't give as much to teaching or don't expect as much in life. Your choice. You have the control.

Me, in August, buying theatre tickets for the first week back: ooh, a lovely little treat. Me, in September, looking at the theatre tickets for the first week back: bed. please.

@norchcity Yes but the Teach Last ladder climbers will agree to do it... Seen this happen before As a Union we fought against it & they backed down - the minute I left they resorted back to it & the brown noses started doing it making it difficult for staff who said no Disgusting

@SwailesRuth I'm similar when I go to the pub.. I worry alcohol is bad for me.... But by the 3rd pint I'm excited to be back and love the challenge. Both the continual stress of teaching and alcohol abise will lead to an early grave 👍

It never changes. This month marks my 31st year of working in education. Every September I worry I'll have forgotten what to do and by the 3rd I'm excited to be back and totally loving the challenge.

@CCook4189735 In simply turned up the volume on the problems that were already embedded in society/education and acted as a catalyst.

@AIEducators The best way to deal with the insane amount of admin and BS is to 'plan' your escape from teaching.
