@jstrelioff I always like to say "We build brands, not logos." Giving context to how all of the elements work together makes all the difference.

When presenting directions for a brand identity, I always show the brand across multiple sample touchpoints to bring it to life: 1. Website hero 2. Social media profile 3. App icon 4. Pitch deck 5. Packaging 6. Swag 7. OOH 8. Brochure 9. Stationery set 10. Event booth

@rishvee @Adobe @InDesign @Lightroom I'm an adobe fan! I just wish they'd spend a little more time on creating thoughtful, empathetic workflows and less time cramming Ai into every tool (Forgot to mention @Acrobat is now a sluggish, unusable mess).

My favorite @Adobe feature is having to uninstall and reinstall @InDesign every time I want to use it. (My second favorite is making a new catalogue copy in @Lightroom every time they do an update).

@jhsilverman @benblumenrose @benblumenrose I’d ask how long/far they’d want their investment to go. A lot of the “sprint” work I’ve seen lately tends to be very surface. Would over index on strategy & client collaboration to brand build for the future. $50k min but wouldn’t need to redo the work later.

Hypothetical: someone you know is starting a company but doesn't have a ton of funding and they want a brand done well - logo, type color, and some basic applications of the mark/brand. Where do you send them? How much would you tell them to budget for it?

@jina I remember going through some stuff at Buzzfeed because they couldn’t verify some of my college transcript details. But, at that point, I had been working professionally for nearly 20 years. Silly.

My HireRight background report was just set to completed, with my education status as "unable to verify" — despite them confirming they received my uploaded transcript from Parchment for my school that shut down. I have no idea what this means for my potential employment. 🥺

@karasmarsh Same for me. Has been mostly Google Slides for me in-house at tech companies when making decks with cross-functional folks. Then I'll use Figma when it's something that doesn't require that.

Designers: Do you create presentations with Figma? Why or why not?

@intoitoverit I remember one tour where I ate used cigarette butts out of a wet ashtray to win a $10 bet so I could splurge on Wendy's dollar menu (since I had only eaten peanut butter for 3 days prior). A nice meal and/or a real bed goes a long way.
