April 12, 2026, I visited Marwan Barghouti in my capacity as his lawyer. What I confirmed through this visit is deeply alarming. In recent weeks, Marwan Barghouti has been subjected to three violent assaults. On April 8 in Ganot Prison, he was severely beaten and left bleeding for more than two hours. He requested medical care and was denied treatment. On March 25, he was assaulted during his transfer from Megiddo to Ganot. On March 24, in Megiddo Prison, guards entered his cell with a dog, forced him to the ground, and the dog repeatedly attacked him.  These are not isolated incidents. They form a clear pattern of escalating abuse: violence, medical neglect, and treatment that places him at immediate risk. He had a great deal to say. Above all, he wanted to know more about his family and the Palestinian people, What is happening in Palestinian and Israeli scene I tried to tell him everything I know. But even that conversation took place under absurd conditions: the phones did not work, so we had to shout through the glass just to hear each other. For five hours, I sat there without food or water, trying to make sure this visit meant something. This is what a legal visit looks like today: basic conditions denied, communication obstructed, and even the most elementary human and professional standards ignored. And still, despite all of that, his mind was sharp, focused, and deeply engaged with everything happening outside those prison walls.

الكويت حريق خزانات مطار الكويت خلاني أفتكر حريق تاني أقدم بكتير…بالكويت وكان حريق ميناء الأحمدي اللي حصل بعد ما قوات صدام انسحبت من الكويت 🇰🇼 وهما بينسحبوا تقريبا كانوا اخدوا تعليمات يخربوا كل حاجة و خربوا المصفاة ودمروا تنكات الميناء.. وارصفة التحميل.. النار كانت عنيفة بجد وتسمع صوت سحبها للهوا من مسافات (دا طبعا غير حريق آبار البترول اللي كل الناس فاكره) وقتها كنت من الفرق اللي شاركت في الإطفاء وكنت علي واحدة من ناقلات البترول الكويتية واستخدمنا مدافع المياه اللي عندنا على الناقلة ويمكن مكنش التجهيز المثالي بس في الأزمات اقدر اقول الخبرة بتسبق الإمكانيات ولازم اقول ان الأطقم الأرضية لشركة KNPC عملت شغل لا احد يتخيلة شغل ابطال بجد ناس واقفة في النار حرفيا علشان تحمي حاجاتها دي كانت يمكن أول مرة أتعامل مع شعب الكويت عن قرب مش في اجتماعات ولا شغل مراكب عادي لأ في في أزمة بجد وعرفت معدنهم الحقيقي ... جدعان بجد.. وبعد ما النار اتلمت نوها...دخلنا على أسابيع شغل أصعب شغل اتذكر اني كنت بنام فية اربع ساعات يوميا بس وهو كان تنضيف المصيبة البيئية بعد ما قوات صدام فتحت خطوط وبراميل تسببت في تدفق ملاين من البراميل في المياة ودي كان الحرب بجد اننا نحافظ علي البيبئه ونخلي الحياه اللي تحت المياه تقدر تتنفس تاني وبرضة اولاد الكويت مخدلوناش بالشغل واهل الكويت اللي كانوا بيحضروا لنا الاكل وكم الكرم الواحد شاف شوية حاجات بحياتة كانت فترة سودا واسوئهم كانت خيانه الفلسطينين لما حاولوا يستولوا علي بعض من سفن الكويتية ودي قصص تانيه تماما في الشدة… المعادن بتبان🇰🇼

Stadiums sold out worldwide, and millions of albums flew off the shelves. Yet throughout his rock stardom, May never fully let go of his scientific passion. Even at the height of Queen’s fame, he stayed connected to astrophysics—reading journals, attending lectures when possible, and maintaining contact with his former supervisor, Professor Michael Rowan-Robinson, who had once told him: “You can always come back and finish.” Thirty-six years after stepping away, in 2006, May decided the time had finally come. He reached out to Rowan-Robinson, and together they revived the long-dormant project. Though the field had moved forward and his original data needed updating, his early observations still held real scientific value. Balancing his ongoing music career with late-night research sessions, May updated his work, incorporated new findings, and refined his analysis. In 2007, at the age of 60, Imperial College London officially awarded him a PhD in astrophysics—not an honorary title, but one earned through rigorous research and peer review. Dr. Brian May had finally completed what he started more than three decades earlier. His journey is a powerful reminder that passion has no expiration date. Whether on stage under stadium lights or studying the dust between the planets, Brian May proved it’s never too late to finish what you began.

After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today. I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby. It has been an honor serving under @POTUS and @DNIGabbard and leading the professionals at NCTC. May God bless America.

شكرا للكويت والكويتيين … واحداً واحداً منذ سنوات كنت في مهمة صحفية مع شركة زين الكويتية في أوغندا. في العاصمة كامبالا . وقررت ان آخذ سيارة واذهب في جولة للتعرف على البلد الأفريقي الذي يبدو مثل سويسرا بكم الخضار والجمال. وقررت أتوقف في مكان كان فيه تجمع لبعض اهل البلد، واكتشفت انه عرس. وقفت ونزلت اتفرج واتحدث مع الناس. رحبوا بي وسألوني ماذا افعل في بلدهم، فقلت لهم اني في زيارة مع شركة زين الكويتية. اول ما ذكرت الكويت تفاجات بالمعازيم يتركون العروس ويلتفون حولي مبتسمين، يمدون يدهم لكي يصافحوني واحد واحد. الحقيقة تفاجئت وسألت عن سر هذه المحبة. فأجاب احدهم بإنجليزية مكسرة : الكويت! نحن نحب الكويت. انقذت ابني وأبناء الكثير من الحاضرين هنا. سألت: كيف؟ اجاب: كانت المدرسة في هذه المنطقة آيلة للسقوط ولا يوجد اموال لترميمها. وكانت المدرسة الوحيدة في المنطقة. ومن اجل الحفاظ على سلامة التلاميذ اخبرونا انه يجب إغلاقها ولا يجب ارسال اولادنا اليها. وكنا فقدنا الامل لا نعلم ماذا نفعل - ثم جاءت شركة زين ووصل لهم الموضوع. ففوجئنا بالشركة تتبرع بترميم المدرسة وبناء مدرسة جديدة بالفصول كاملة والكتب. لن ننسى ذلك أبدا. وبلغى شكرنا للكويت والكويتيين واحد واحد. هذه القصة التي كنت شاهدا عليها تتكرر في دول كثيرة حول العالم . منذ عقود، والكويت اختارت أن تستخدم ثروتها ليس فقط لبناء الداخل… بل لمساعدة الخارج أيضاً. إذا سافرت إلى بلد نامي في أفريقيا أو آسيا، ستجد الكويت هناك. بئر مياه يحمل اسم الكويت. مدرسة بنتها جمعية خيرية كويتية. مستشفى صغير أو محطة كهرباء ساهمت الكويت في تمويلها. أو مشروعاً إنسانياً أنقذ قرية كاملة من العطش أو المرض. ولعل هذه الأيادي البيضاء كانت دائماً أحد أسرار نجاة الكويت من كل ما يحاك ضدها - هذه البلد الصغير الثري وسط محيط مليء بالتحديات والمؤامرات. فالكويت دولة مسالمة ليست دولة تبحث عن الحروب. بل إن الكويت ربما من أكثر الدول التي دفعت ثمناً لأنها تؤمن بالتعايش والاعتدال. في عام 1990، اجتاحها جيش عراقي كامل. احتُل البلد. أُحرقت آبار النفط. تحولت الكويت إلى ساحة حرب. ومع ذلك، وبعد التحرير، لم تتحول الكويت إلى دولة انتقام. لم تدخل في مغامرات عسكرية. لم تبحث عن الثأر. اختارت طريقاً آخر. إعادة البناء. الاستثمار. الدبلوماسية. ومدّ اليد للجميع. حتى مع جيرانها الذين لم يكونوا دائماً لطفاء معها. إلا ان كل ذلك لم يقابله امتنان وتقدير. قابله قصف بالصواريخ والمسيرات لدولة لم تعلن حرباً على أحد. نحو ألف صاروخ ومسيرة أُطلقت باتجاه الكويت خلال الايام الماضية . رقم صادم، إذا وضعناه في سياق الحروب الحديثة. بل إن معدل القصف خلال هذه الأيام، يتجاوز في شدته اليومية ما واجهته مدن أوكرانيا في الحرب مع روسيا. صواريخ. مسيرات. إنذارات. سماء تتحول ليلاً إلى ساحة مواجهة بين الدفاعات الجوية والمقذوفات القادمة. لكن وسط هذا كله… لم تنهَز الكويت. لم تتحول إلى دولة مذعورة. لم تتحول إلى دولة تبحث عن الانتقام. بل تصرفت كما تصرفت دائماً في تاريخها الحديث: بهدوء… وصلابة… وعقلانية. دولة لا تملك مشروعاً توسعياً. ولا ترفع شعارات أيديولوجية. كل ما تريده هو أن يعيش شعبها بسلام… وأن تبقى منطقة الخليج مستقرة. دولة تفاجئك دائماً بقوتها في اوقات المحن . وفي الأيام الماضية شاهدنا هذه القوة. ليس فقط في الأداء العسكري أو الدفاعي. بل في تماسك مجتمع كامل. الناس استمرت في حياتها. الأسواق لم تُغلق. المؤسسات عملت. والدولة تعاملت مع الأزمة بقدر كبير من الانضباط. هذه ليست تفاصيل صغيرة. هذه هي قوة الدول الحقيقية. نجت من الغزو. نجت من أزمات إقليمية كثيرة. وستنجو من هذه أيضاً. لأن لدى الكويت سلاحاً لا يُقاس بالصواريخ ولا بالجيوش.” بل لديها شيئاً أهم بكثير: دولة… وشعباً… يعرفان معنى الصمود والخير . نجوى عسران

A horrific massacre just took place on the Beirut beach and there isn’t a single headline about it in Western media. There was wall-to-wall coverage of the Bondi Beach attacks. But Arabs are so dehumanized that Israel can slaughter displaced Lebanese people living in tents on the beach and it doesn’t even make the news.

Three hours ago we were attacked by Israeli settlers in the Jordan Valley. A 70 year old Palestinian man was hospitalised in stable condition; two activists, including me were also injured. The settlers repeatedly kicked me in the face and head, and stole my phone.
