Happy International Women's Day to all the amazing women I know! First, to my incredible mama. Your strength and guidance have shaped me into the woman I am today, and I'm forever thankful. To my amazing women-powered team. You inspire me every single day with your passion and drive. To my sweet granddaughter Cece and my wonderful daughter-in-law Chloe. Your presence fills my heart with joy and so much hope for the future. I'm also grateful for the incredible women I've met throughout my travels and at events. Your stories and courage are constant reminders of what's possible when we uplift and support one another. Here's to strong women everywhere. May we continue to rise, empower, and celebrate each other today and always! #happyinternationalwomensday

Modern-day parenting has become overwhelming. The pressures today—particularly around intensive parenting—are unprecedented. The societal expectation that parents must pour endless time, money, and energy into optimizing their children’s futures has made parenting feel like an all-consuming task, with far-reaching impacts on mental health. As a mother and founder of two companies rooted in supporting families, I see the urgent need to reframe parenting as a shared societal responsibility, not just an individual burden. We need policies, technology and support systems that acknowledge the intense pressures parents face and provide real relief, whether through paid leave, tech solutions, community care, or accessible childcare options. The well-being of parents directly affects the well-being of children. It’s time we recognize that helping parents thrive is essential to creating healthier families and communities. nytimes.com/2024/09/14/ups…

The key to overcoming unconscious bias isn’t attacking it. It’s disproving it. Defensiveness may feel natural, but it drains your energy and shuts others down. Instead, respond with dignity, compassion, and logic. Focus on the facts: what you contribute and the value you bring. That’s how real change happens. Next time they’re in a room with someone they’ve unconsciously dismissed, they’ll think twice.

In the coming decades, we will see more women as world leaders. They will be in cabinet rooms and negotiation rooms. In the next year, one may even be in the Oval Office. Since @KamalaHarris accepted her party’s nomination, she’s already shown the nation the unique power of female leadership: our ability to master opposing forces. We’re tough yet nurturing. Creative yet analytical. Pragmatic yet joyful. We can build teams, but we can also put on our game face when it's needed. Her journey is a reminder to future generations to see their differences as strengths, not obstacles.

As @jerrywon says, the right mentors (and the right team) won't just put up with you. They will actively *elevate* you. Find them.

Building a company from scratch is already hard. So why would you make it harder on yourself by putting up with people who don't respect you?

Getting older doesn't have to mean slowing down. The great @DrCharlotteYeh has done the research to show that there are 3 key factors that contribute to a long and happy life: purpose, optimism, and connection with others. This recent roundtable from healthcare professionals considers how to scale her findings from the individual to whole communities. I look forward to a future where it could become the standard for how we embrace our later years ↓ researchgate.net/publication/36…

Supporting Parents' Mental Health is Crucial for Our Future💡🧠 This week's advisory from @Surgeon_General , the U.S. Surgeon General, highlights a critical issue: parents' mental health and well-being. At @ohaidotai, we believe that supporting parents is essential for both their own well-being and their children's and communities' well-being. Ohai's mission is not just a goal, but a societal imperative. We aim to reduce the mental load of parents and caregivers by providing a helping hand through AI tech and Human Assistants.🤖✨ It's time to prioritize the well-being of those who shape the next generation. hhs.gov/about/news/202…

What do top-performing athletes and corporate executives have in common? They both work hard to achieve peak performance. However, unlike your average Olympian, executives tend to forget that intense output requires deep recovery. 10 years ago, this HBR article taught me that intense output requires deep recovery, and embracing its methods have changed my life for the better. I now do breath work, exercise, steam baths – even cold plunges!   All these activities ensure that I'm taking care of my mind AND my body, so that I can continue to achieve at the high standard I've set for myself. hbr.org/2001/01/the-ma…

In order to lead, you need to get over yourself. You can't run a meeting—let alone a company—if all your brainpower is spent worrying about how you’re being perceived. You need to dig deep to push past your insecurities. Meditation and books like Dr. Hawkins’ Letting Go can help.  That way, when you're in the boardroom, you can keep your focus where it counts: on others.

Taking time for art, music, or any passion isn't taking time away from work—it's the key to excelling at it! These experiences always help fuel creativity, which become fresh ideas when we're back on the job. They also offer moments to connect with the people we love. Recently, my wonderful husband Ron and I celebrated our 33rd anniversary at an intimate musical soiree with legends and dear friends So-Chung Shinn, @morley_erin, @Brownleetenor, Gerald Martin Moore, @RickyIanGordon, and Tony Lee. It was a gorgeous evening, and we both left feeling refreshed and inspired! Don't call it downtime. It’s essential for doing our best work.

Our dreams don’t have an expiration date—especially for moms! One of my dear friends from college was told early on that she wasn’t good enough to become a professional singer. Instead, she became a wonderful mother while still nurturing her musical passion by encouraging her children to become great performers. She volunteered, worked, and even served on the Met Opera's board. Over 30 years later, as she approached becoming an empty nester, she decided to start taking music lessons again... Now, in our 50s, So-Chung Shinn has performed on the international stage as the Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute in Vicenza, Italy. The admiration and pride I felt watching her will continue to inspire me as I embrace this second chapter of life. It reinforces my belief that it’s never too late to follow our dreams!

Trying every day to keep it real! Recently, I brought my niece along to a speaking engagement, and it was such a special experience. 💖 Most people don't see the behind-the-scenes moments—getting into the car, meeting with coordinators, prepping my speech backstage, and changing outfits for a gala right after. I even showed her my secret reverse earrings trick! After years of doing this, I've learned that comfy shoes are a must. ✨ Always seems like glitz and glam going to these events, but it takes work!
