dear people of twitter, i invite you to join me next month for METTA MAY!
metta may has been a tradition for several years now where we come together to practice opening our hearts all month
this year, i am hosting metta may as a donation-based program, from may 3-31!
we'll have five 90-min group calls, which will include guided meditations on various ways to practice metta, some relational metta practices, and time for Q&A. everyone who signs up can also have an hour-long 1:1 call with me to help support your metta practice
i'll also be livestreaming a short guided metta sit every morning on twitter :)
to learn more and sign up, head to tinyurl . com/mettamay26, or follow the link in my bio.
MAY YOU BE HAPPY!
@zencephalon Yeah pasta is about 15% protein in its macros, so not great but also higher protein stuff like beans and tofu are cheap too. and protein powder is not too expensive either (though you can buy fancier ones for more money, imo they're not better)
crazy when people say eating vegan is expensive
$1 of pasta, $0.50 of tomato sauce, $0.10 of garlic, $0.10 of olive oil is a delicious meal + reasonably healthy (most people could realistically have it 3x/week without negative health consequences)
Most meals I eat are $2-$5
@danielbrottman i like this one a lot actually. in the beginning you do really want someone to tell you what to do. but eventually you start realizing you just gotta lock in and figure some shit out yourself, there's nothing you really need to "know" in a way, and 99% of the time u can't mess up
do you ever feel a combination of fear and tiredness after eating lunch? Perhaps a combination of caffeine crash + lunch-time sleepies?
The sleepiness seems obvious and well discussed, but fear is a bit less so. Happens to me like once a week or more though. mix of dread/anxiety
@MeghanCarron Only read the beginning of it. I love The Old Man and the Sea and liked a few of his other novels.
Definitely recommend The Old Man and the Sea for a short novel, surprisingly gripping and makes you think about ambition.
Not really what you asked for though haha
has anyone read "A Moveable Feast" by Ernest Hemingway? what do you think? I'm thinking of it for my next book. I've never read anything by Hemingway before
anyone have good youtube lecture series I should watch? I want to learn about one of the following topics through a few hours of cohesive content from 1 creator:
- Physics (not rly space stuff though)
- Chemistry/material science
- Manufacturing
- Biology esp neuroscience
Looking for something that goes deeper than Crash Course/High school level education stuff
Loved these robert sapolsky videos for reference youtube.com/watch?v=NNnIGh…
me when science supports my opinion: "Trust the science. what kind of folly it is to believe yourself smarter than the Experts..."
me when science proves me wrong: "but who is funding this... you see... evil corporations. yes it is in fact a CONSPIRACY, and a sham."
