@drjgauthier @RahulBanerjeeMD @End_myeloma 2/2. Therefore model building, calibration, external validation & estimation of optimism less relevant. One could make argument for DCA, that too would be better suited for model primarily intended for accurately predicting an outcome IMO.

@drjgauthier @RahulBanerjeeMD @End_myeloma 1/2 Sorry for late reply, was taking a break from X. don't disagree with above general statements. Intent was comparison of predictive discrimination of two thresholds (as in Begg et al PMID: 10900448), conditional on established measures. Outcome prediction accuracy not intended

As usual, masterfully written (no pun intended) by @End_myeloma @smith__giri et al. #MMsm sMRD- at 10^-5 performed better than sMRD- at 10^-6. Turned many heads at #ASH24. May be small n, or: 👇🏼 Maybe sMRD ≤10^-5 catches the most pts and gives us the prognostic info we need!

This is my dad. He was shot twice fighting for democracy in his home country, Nicaragua. He lost his brother in battle. His calloused hands remind me of the manual labor he worked to make sure I could focus on school. He transports elderly patients to their doctors' appointments. He is a warrior. You kept us strong, dad. 2/4

5. And what does that mean? Exploring objective blood based markers to gauge physiologic health can help clinicians better design treatment NOT on chronologic age. That is a good thing to right-size cancer treatment.

@SuyogCancer @ASCO @OncoAlert @DrChoueiri @tompowles1 @montypal @dr_yakupergun @DrYukselUrun To help find the answer the question will need to be properly reframed: why did pembrolizumab show a signal of efficacy whereas nivolumab was inconclusive? See section 10 “Comparative and Group-specific inferences” here for the tools needed 👇

1/4 Just published our review on how to interpret RCTs focusing on key concepts such as sampling & allocation, uncertainty & variability, relevance & robustness, intention to treat & per protocol, potential outcomes & counterfactuals 👉 mdpi.com/2072-6694/15/1…

💯 Real world evidence is marketing terminology for the old “observational evidence” and implies that somehow RCTs don’t happen in the “real world”. Complete BS

@RWJE_BA @elmir1omerovic @yudapearl @AdanBecerraPhD @GreggWStone @xyu_shi @GiulioGrossi @kaulcsmc @stephensenn @drjohnm @VPrasadMDMPH RWE is a truly bullshit term. The real world simply does not provide evidence about what would have happened to a patient had they received a different treatment from the one they received, except in cases (that are almost nonexistent) where treatment choices are dictated.

Stumbled across a fascinating case report. John Hughes Bennett (1812-1875) described Aspergillus; he's known among h(a)ematologists for publishing a clear description of leuk(a)emia in 1845, as did Rudolf Virchow. But a tragic case report is also part of his legacy./1 #MedTwitter
