@ManagerTactical What I learned. There should be a penalty box like hockey. So, players can avoid stupid red cards. Embolo would go out for 2 or 3 minutes or so. We don't want players to dive but we also don't want the ref ruining the game.

I know nobody wants to hear this, but this is where the real failure lies. Blaming Mauricio Pochettino or the players is too easy for me. Look back at what has happened. People like Earnie Stewart and Matt Crocker have stepped away from their roles, and we move on as if nothing happened. The real problems run much deeper. I can only speak from my own experience. There are people within the federation who should never have been put in positions of power. One of them is Cindy Parlow Cone. Years ago, Earnie Stewart asked if I would be interested in coaching the U16 National Team and assisting with the U20 National Team. We agreed, and I was excited about the opportunity. But Cindy never signed the paperwork. Earnie told me he couldn’t move forward without her signature. Later, I was advised not to talk about it because I would never get another opportunity if I did. If you’re wondering why I’m talking about it now, it’s because I’m back in Germany. Let me be clear: I don’t like working with people who put their own interests ahead of what’s best for the development while claiming they’re acting in its best interest. This is just one story. I could go much deeper on this topic because in my opinion, this is the real reason we continue to fail. There are too many issues within the federation that people don’t know.

@AlexiLalas They had reached the end of the line. Belgium proved in their match vs Spain why they were better than us. Their team had played together longer. They were beatable but had we won we are getting knocked out by Spain anyway. Just think about Ream getting roasted by Yamal.

No, I think Pochettino did a really good job of injecting national pride and passion into this USMNT. His flaw (or failure) was losing the game that he was hired to win, and losing it in a way that undid much of the good the team had amassed through the tournament.
Bill Duerden@bduerden75

@AlexiLalas @11Yanks The flaw of Pochettino was his inability to inject national pride & passion into the USMNT. That level of desire elevates talent and it was sorely missing in the match against Belgium.

In case you're wondering why the United States is not participating in the World Cup this weekend: If an athlete with Mbappé's speed and agility, had grown up in the United States, he would be a wide receiver in the NFL, akin to Tyreek Hill, rather than a soccer player.

@AlexiLalas I will say it. Freese blew the game. US played shaky in the first half but were only down a goal. GK's are supposed to keep you in the game and even bail u out once in a while & that never happened. Like Vahzinga did for Cape Verde. We need a new Tim Howard.

@AlexiLalas Bro. You are way off. He had to spend most of his time trying to figure out the starting lineup. He found that. He chose the top 26 - No argument. He chose starting team - No argument. Beat Paraguay & Aussie, able to rest in the 3rd. & beat Bosnia w a new starting lineup.

@EricLDaugh The problem with that idea is Congress is satisfied with getting nothing done. No movement is good for them.

🚨 HOLY SMOKES. In an act of defiance, President Trump is REFUSING to sign the "bipartisan" housing legislation in protest of the Senate NOT PASSING the SAVE America Act 🔥🔥 "I will not sign the Housing Bill, which has been fully approved by Congress and sent to the White House, in PROTEST over the fact that the United States Senate is not capable of passing THE SAVE AMERICA ACT, which is polling at 97% with the Republican Party, and very high with the non-politician Dumocrats." "If the Dumocrats, or any RINO (or worse!) working with them, do not allow a positive Vote on SAVE AMERICA, TERMINATE THE FILIBUSTER, and pass this, and every other Bill that true Republicans have ever dreamt of (In addition to the upcoming Budget BOMB and the 1929 catastrophic style DEBT CEILING BILL!)." "The Act states, quite simply, that to Vote a person must show PHOTO VOTER I.D., PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP, AND THAT THERE WILL BE NO MORE CROOKED, CORRUPT, & DESTABILIZING MAIL-IN BALLOTS (EXCEPTIONS for Military, Disabled, Illness, and Travel!). THE SAVE AMERICA ACT’S non-passage is CRAZY, and a serious threat to any politician who votes against it!" "The Dumocrats will TERMINATE THE FILIBUSTER, if and when they ever get the chance to do so, in their very first hour - And I will no longer be able to call them Dumocrats again! The title of DUMB will revert to the Republicans who allowed this horrible calamity to happen to our Party, and our Nation, itself! MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN! President DONALD J. TRUMP"

@UnfilteredSoccr I was watching Dr. Phil talking to the wife of a lying husband. Dr Phil pointed out that the lyer was saying "affirmative" but shaking his head "no". Body language telling you no. Pulisic constantly does this. His heart is not in it.

Landon's message to Christian Pulisic: "This is an opportunity to help and to change your life forever. One of the biggest problems - I speak to people who are at U.S. Soccer. I speak to his sponsors. I speak to his teammates. I speak to the staff and the coaches. People are fed up with the way things are handled around him. And it's not necessarily him, but it's his agents, his family, his hangers-on, the people who are influencing. People are fed up with it. They treat people poorly. They do things poorly. It's always a 'no' whenever you wanna ask, 'Can we do an interview?' It's always a, 'No, you can't get near him.' He doesn't say 'hi' to the commentators who do all the games all the time when they walk by. All the other guys come over and shake hands and say, 'Hello.' There's just this sense about him that you can't get near him. And I actually don't think it's from him. I think it's from I think it's from the people around him."

@ByDougMcIntyre @FOXSoccer Some people don't know what they are looking at. The starting line up only played 3 games together. Had Poch had the starting lineup decided on a year ago and played all the friendlies with that lineup. I guarantee the USA finish higher

@GolazoAmerica @CharlieDavies9 THIS is the real reason. We have a damn good lineup. Problem is nobody knew who it was until the 1st game of the world cup. Think about the constant rotation over the years. That is more to blame than anything.

@ManagerTactical THIS is the real reason. U can't field your starting lineup for the first time on the first match of the world cup. It's a really good starting 11 but they only played together 3 matches. Give this group 10 matches together and they harden in. Too late now.

The 2 best players the USMNT 🇺🇸 has was pretty obvious this World Cup… It’s Balogun and Tillman. Both were not developed in the 🇺🇸, until the federation grows some balls and does what’s right it will continue to be this way. It’s start with the federation and extends to the leagues which is where the good players should be developed.

@SkyFootball FIFA should just rescind the red card. Admit it was a poor call. Since there was no red card. There is no suspension. Problem solved

WATCH: 'CBS Mornings' speculates the USMNT is now "tainted" with "a stigma" and any wins against Belgium and beyond in the World Cup will have "an asterisk" because FIFA overturning Balogun's red card has "destroy[ed] the integrity of the competition"
