8 years as a Catholic I’ve seen a lot of White Catholics stay in an echo chamber of whiteness & never seek out Black Catholic voices. They miss the richness of our tradition, the wisdom that forms anti racism & real solidarity, & move through the Church with unexamined privilege

@LarryChappGS22 @kalezelden @joelschafer Interesting indeed but as @CatholicRob noted on a different post, such a statement needs to account for the fact that Protestantism thrived at picking off Catholic converts pre Internet, and then the tide turned once people had better research capacity.

@RorateCaeli There is however one element of beauty in the Novus Ordo that can’t be replicated in the EF and that’s the chanted canon. I understand arguments in favor of the silent canon and prefer it myself, but there is something uniquely beautiful about the chanted canon

The Novus Ordo can be made to look really beautiful: fact. BUT it is always curious that it is most beautiful when it simply resembles the usual Traditional Mass.

“Trinity” doesn’t appear in Scripture either, but the concept does 😀 Paul really can’t get clearer than he is in Ephesians 2:1-10. He repeats himself in at least 6 different ways to ensure everyone understands salvation is a free gift of grace “But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:4-10

How many times does the phrase "faith alone" appear in the Bible? And what specifically does the Bible say about "faith alone"?

Many Catholics will use this as evidence that Shia's conversion was insincere. But I can tell you that conversion can be sincere and authentic even if behavior doesn't immediately change. Deeply embedded sin takes a long time to shed. I've been there. Pray for him.

Shia LaBeouf, who has professed to be sober, has been on a nearly week-long Mardi Gras bar crawl through New Orleans. Said one bartender who waited on him last Thursday: “He is terrorizing the city!” hollywoodreporter.com/news/general-n…

JUST IN: Study shows 2 hours a day on a device may already be changing a preschooler’s brain. 3-5 years old show shocking levels of white matter lost due to screen time. That affects language, literacy, and neural connectivity. Little brains need physical love, not devices.

Yes, Shakespeare, Austen, and Tolstoy are monuments of genius and human depth. But the moment you label them “white culture,” you’ve already fallen into the trap of identity politics. You’re bargaining within the terms of white guilt rather than transcending them. We need full, unapologetic access to the greatest achievements of civilization because their humanness and complexities transcend race.

"We are part of one civilization – Western  civilization. We are bound to one another by the deepest bonds that nations could  share, forged by centuries of shared history, Christian faith, culture, heritage,  language, ancestry, and the sacrifices our forefathers made together for the common  civilization to which we have fallen heir." - Big Mark
