The guy I truly hope falls to the Red Sox in this year's draft is Vahn Lackey, a catcher out of Georgia Tech who is likely to stick at catcher but heading into the season wasn't what anyone would consider a bat-first prospect. That seems to not be the case anymore as he's gotten off to a .479/.602/.972/1.574 start over 93 PA with nine homers, 31 RBI, 20 BB/10 K, and has even gone 7-for-7 in stolen bases for good measure. You can't read too much into college numbers but suddenly I am not so sure he's going to last until Boston picks.
