But then I went through something really traumatic and incredibly lonely, and I realized some of the few souls willing to sit with me through the experience, who embodied depth, understanding, and patience, were the kind and positive ones. They weren’t fake, their optimism did not feel desperate. They were just grateful life-giving people who saw the bigger picture, deeply truthful people, who understood how sinful cynicism was.
