The internet shutdown in Afghanistan happened in real time in my online poetry class on Monday. The women's accounts dropped out one by one. The last to go was Neda. Just before her image froze, I promised to put her poem on Twitter. She's 11. Online was her last hope of education. @WRNAfghanistan

Tomorrow I’m getting on a train for the first time in three and a half years to go into London - because talking about mental health is too important to let my mental illness stop me this time. #MentalHealthAwareness #MentalIllness

I did something unusual this evening: playing an interview filmed last night that now seems completely out of date. Which is basically breaking all the rules of television and journalism. But there's a reason 👇

James Hunt is the father of two non-verbal autistic children. @FT and @educationgovuk you should speak to people like him to understand the condition better. The notion that autism is a "lighter" disability (whatever that means!) is laughable. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

Inbetwixtmas: I’m reading, my husband is doing a puzzle and my 6yo is playing with his hot wheels. These are the days we dreamed of when he was three and would not do an activity for longer than 60 seconds! #parenthood

Lots of people anxious about the US election. Christians do not need to be. Presidents, empires, all come and go. God is still on His throne. All is well. And it ends well. Revelation 21:4 ‘there will no longer be…any mourning crying or pain.. the old order has passed away’

@professor_dave So true. And it gives no thought to what it is costing those who ‘can’ manage their behaviour to do so. The emotional and mental impact of spending a day masking at school can be immense - what if they didn’t have to?

Neurodivergence is a spectrum, and some people *can* manage their behaviour. This does not mean those who cannot are not trying, or failing. It just means their disability is harder for them to manage - some disabled people need a wheelchair all the time, but others do not.

On autism/ADHD & behaviour. Over the weekend, I have read lots blaming autistic children for their behaviour, or suggesting poor parenting is to blame. Autism & ADHD are *disabilities* that can impact on behaviour - to fail to understand this is simple disability discrimination.

I’m not a Tweeter. I’m a scroller. But I really want to share what I’ve done since winning #RaceAcrossTheWorld. It’s something I’m really proud of. A thread 🧵 RTs appreciated x

@CraigPhilbrick Oh Craig. I’m so very very sorry. The times I met Gary he was so very kind and positive and generous of spirit. I’m praying for you all in your grief.

We really thought this room in the PCU was going to be our last home away from home before really going home. Gus wasn't having it. He wanted to see his friends in the CICU, so he took us back there one last time. Of all the things it is most difficult to lose, touch and smell are the hardest. I can 'see' him again in pictures and I can 'hear' him again in videos. But I cannot touch him again in any sense. I cannot smell him. We saved some of his dirty laundry - wild considering how we used to rush to the hospital laundry room or rush back and forth from home to do laundry. There are some things I may never clean again - though they will lose his scent all too quickly, and it will be gone for good. Miss ya buddy.
