The supposedly "most left-wing" Gen Z Congressional candidate -- @KatAbughazaleh -- has the foreign policy of Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, and Liz Cheney. There are many explanations for this, but a key one is that Trump-era "left-wing foreign policy" -- which barely exists any more as an identifiable dogma -- got defined by Russiagate, Maddow, NeverTrump Bush/Cheney operatives (David Frum, Nicolle Wallace, Bill Kristol, The Atlantic), Ukraine, and an alliance with and admiration for the US Security State due to the recognition that they were all aligned against Trump. That's why people like AOC and Gretchen Whitmer can barely form a cogent sentence when asked about the most basic foreign policy questions such as Taiwan and Ukraine. Try to find the last time any major left-wing national figure criticized the CIA, the NSA, NATO, etc.: all once staples of left-wing foreign policy discourse. They're completely lost. Amazingly, this new "left-wing" strain like Abughazaleh is even more militaristic on these issues, including China, since she opposes the doctrine of strategic ambiguity and explicitly says the US would go to war with China over Taiwan -- something every American president refused to say for decades until Biden's melting brain blurted it out a few times. Much of it is based on ignorance (she somehow affirms her belief in a "One China" policy but also a defense of Taiwan's sovereignty). But a lot of it is the by-product of Trump-era left-liberal militarism and the Cheney/Kristol alliance they formed for more than a decade now.
