We only write 1-2 primers a year because we want them to be durable. It’s simple to publish something market relevant for 6 months, but our goal is a piece you can return to years later and still derive value.
Our Robotics primer meets that standard.

@GoingBallistic5 incredibly interesting. should add that as the caption for the QT!

@intern First, not just low reflected inertia. But low absolute inertia, so even if it impacts you at high speed, it won't hurt you.
Second, naturally compliant and back drivable. The finger IP joints easily respond because of the nature of the mechanics, not a software layer.

Safety was baked into the design requirements and not an afterthought

A quick follow-up demo showing the hand safely interacting with people while it works. Even while threading, the hand is only using the force it needs for the task, so someone can interrupt it with their own hand without it hurting. This is a big part of how we think about manipulation: not building a Terminator-strength hand, just a capable, force-aware one that can do useful work around people. Want a hand? Sadly we will need to dismantle most of the F.02 robots…may do something epic

@adcock_brett Question did Figure replace the F.02 with all 3’s and do you reuse robot parts from the F.02’s

This was probably one of my largest misses. Having the opportunity to invest in Figure series A.
The video is worth a watch. Robotics is attempting to solve for a 59T problem that is labor. And now it’s actually beginning to scale. Its current market cap is around 200B. How early are we? We’re so early these companies don’t even trade publically yet and the robots don’t exist. It’s like buying bitcoin at $500 and maybe getting to see it run to 50k.
There’s a lot of doubt around them as there is with any new tech. This is going to be incredibly obvious in hindsight. Of course it sound crazy when you say some of these companies are going to be trillion dollar companies.
I really feel you should put 10-20 hours into some research bc over the next decade. This is likely going to be one of the most explosive opportunities of our lives. I will definitely be talking about this more often and the various companies that are rapidly progressing bc it’s actually something I follow and am extremely excited about.
