We should view minimum wage as a wall between the employed and the unemployed.
A wall that entrenches the employed into their jobs, while keeping the unemployed on the outside looking in.
Minimum wage outlaws any job that can only be profitable at less than.

@AndrewYang's proposed $1K/month #UBI, has a present value of $300K. How many guys who reach a $300K net worth stop working? 1 in 1M?

The 'targeting' of luxury products is unnecessary, because, by pairing with #UBI, that tailoring is automatic.
If we put it all on paper, draw a line and summarize, we'll see that basically the staples end up with a 'negative' VAT.

I would start with even less. To minimize resistance to adoption (spears are sharp for a reason).
Let everybody fall in love with the trusty little monthly check, and democracy will do rest soon enough.
But MUST be funded with a consumption tax. Income taxes are self-defeating.

A nice #UBI feature that helps reviving those dwindling communities is that it's worth more in the countryside.
The same exact dollar amount is worth more in the countryside simply because prices there are considerably lower, especially rent.
Fund with #VAT (or sales tax).

Good news, but as an aside, I am always surprised to hear that people are sometimes able to think that #UBI makes anything else but 100% sense.

Needs to be funded with a consumption tax. No other funding matches UBI's astute, effective simplicity.
Moreover, the funding is part of what UBI is. Must be included in discussion.
Income taxes are self-sabotaging (perhaps by design), so they sink what relies on them.

@CharlieM_OBE I'll never understand how someone can go on TV and pretend to be an expert on something they clearly have done zero actual research into.
Believe it or not, UBI does not discourage work and often improves the incentive via reduced marginal tax rates.

THAT is what corporations hate. NOT big taxes, but rather their foreign competitors getting an advantage.

Funding with a consumption tax is CRITICAL for #UBI. For any social program really. For #democracy even.
Because with highly mobile capitals, income taxes trigger a race to bottom with countries competing to attract them with ever lower rates.
Consumption taxes end this.
