@EM_RESUS Really great video. I'm not a cardiologist, only a basic science electrophysiologist who teaches the basic principles. It's great b/c the ST elevation/depression is much more subtle than in the textbooks. But consistent across many leads.

Here’s a very important video I made breaking down this #ECG case of a 30-year-old man who collapsed into cardiac arrest #FOAMed

@MichaelClerx I never considered applying this terminology before, but one could argue that the Fitzhugh and Nagumo models were digital/analog twins, respectively? Of course van der Pol is an even more old-school reference, credit for that

I'm excited to welcome Dr. Jinye Dai as my new next-door neighbor at Mount Sinai! Look for lots of exciting work from her group in neurophysiology & neuropharmacology.
DAI LAB@JinyeDaiLab

VERY THRILLED to announce that our lab has been established in the Icahn Building @SinaiBrain @IcahnMountSinai. We are currently recruiting postdocs, students, and technicians. Please visit the Dai Lab for details: labs.icahn.mssm.edu/jinyedailab. We would love to hear from you!

@rita_strack As reviewer, also stressful to see the others True story: J Mol Cell Cardiol used to ask for rating 1-100 Didn't like a paper, gave mediocre number. Other reviewer gave same number! Revision slightly improved. Number up a little bit. Other reviewer-- same number again!

I've been an editor for seven years, and I still get nervous right before I read the reviews of your papers.

Rather than dig into Methods sections of papers I read several years ago, let me try this platform What is the best value for gap junctional resistance between two adjacent *SA nodal* myocytes. I would say ~2 MOhm for ventricular, but for SA node?

@emilia_entcheva Awesome, thanks Emilia, I remember reading those papers several years ago, but couldn't remember the numbers. Happy Thanksgiving!

Should've shared this when it came out a month ago, but I'm thrilled that our publication combining modeling with machine learning to understand inter-individual differences was published in PNAS. Congrats to Meera & Xueyan!! pnas.org/content/118/37…

@NVandersickel @ugent @ugent_fwe I agree it's great to be in person again, but teaching "hybrid," where things are simultaneously on Zoom, is really challenging ... .... especially when teaching MATLAB to people with no experience coding!

Back to teaching in person, great to see the students again! One positive change due to #corona: students can completely chose how they follow biophysics: in person, hybrid or online. @ugent @ugent_fwe

@ele_grandi_ I did the same and they also gave us until February 5, it sounds like that's pretty standard.

@sobielab We emailed and got an extension to Feb 5 (I think). Still too early, but better...

Question for folks who attend Biophysical Society: How are you handling the deadlines they are issuing for the virtual meeting? One month ahead of time seems ridiculous & folks in my group are freaked out. Is there any push back or renegotiation of these deadlines?
