Stephanie Calloway recently graduated with her master’s degree in Biology from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, where she worked with Dr. Jenn Yost. She just  started a new position as a Botanist for the Eldorado National Forest in the Sierra Nevada.

We’re highlighting more of the awesome speakers that are going to be at the SoCalBot symposium this Saturday, Nov 5! Next up: Stephanie Calloway!

Just one of the incredible folks we’ll be hearing from is Patrick Donnelly (@bitterwaterblue). He is the Great Basin Director for the Center for Biological Diversity. He’s going to be presenting on “Conservation of Groundwater Dependent Ecosystems in the Amargosa Basin”. 🥳

We’re going to have some incredible speakers, including Brian Smithers (pictured)! Brian is a Research Assistant Professor at Montane State University and the Director of GLORIA Great Basin.

Erin Berkowitz is an artist and educator living in Altadena, CA. Her art has always been inspired by a reverence for the natural world, but her inspiration and medium formed a perfect confluence when she began working with natural dyes about five years ago.

Emma Fryer is a botanist, artist, and currently an MS candidate at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. She's a self-taught artist, and while she has been painting and drawing her entire life, she came to focus on botanical subjects after getting her BS in botany at now Cal Poly Humboldt.

First up: Margaret Gallagher! Margaret Gallagher is an artist and naturalist based in Silver Lake, Los Angeles. Her detailed ink-and-watercolor illustrations highlight the intimate beauty of California's native ecosystems.
