Manchester became a city before Dallas or Denver, Miami or Minneapolis. It sits at the heart of an urban area with a bigger population than Las Vegas or Louisville, Portland or Pittsburgh, Cleveland or Cincinnati, New Orleans...but not quite New York.

I’ve seen some lovely posts from English individual fans, but I saw a viral post of English fans in a Boston bar chanting “F—- the Tartan Army!” Then a bunch of comments to the post from English fans calling the Scots suck ups to insufferable Americans. A bunch of nasty stuff. It could have been just a handful of people, but once that goes viral, everyone assumes the worst. The Scots seemed good natured and fun loving, like a national sleepover with the cousins. I’m an American. Mostly English and Scot, with some Irish and Welsh. All from the UK. Seeing the difference between the positivity from the Scots, which Americans never get, and the negativity from the English fans, which we get from everyone continually around the world, explained my childhood completely to me. I’m happy you’re here, hope you are having fun, and that you meet some nice people. Sorry the videos, which had nothing to do with you, didn’t help, when you’re just trying to enjoy your vacation. That’s my 2 cents. Cheers.

Why do people from Boston hate English fans They treat us completely different to how they treated the Scottish. Didn’t have any of these issues in Texas

I have loved all of the visitors but England and Australia, though I am trying to keep an open mind about them. The first thing the English do in Boston is to trash talk Scotland. And the first thing the Aussies do in America is insult our President. Throughout the World Cup competition, all of the other teams have been good sports and respectful of each other and the host country. These two teams need to learn some manners and join in the spirit of goodwill of the rest of the competitors.
