Belatedly, a long 🧵 on our latest work, (di)atomic garden, an exploration of radiation’s mutative power, some of its history, and its afterlives in the present. The work began with our encounter with the “atomic garden,” or “gamma garden”:

Nordic Interface The Lumen Prize, in collaboration with @kunstsilo, is proud to announce the launch of: Nordic Interface, a new initiative supporting the development of an ambitious new commission by a Nordic artist through mentorship, production support, public programming, and a site-specific commission at Kunstsilo. Building on our long-standing partnership, the program provides selected Nordic artists with mentorship from an international network of experts, dedicated production support, and the opportunity to premiere a new work in Kunstsilo’s Silohall during The Lumen Prize Awards Ceremony weekend in November. For the inaugural edition, we’re thrilled to announce @entangledothers as the first artists selected for the program. Their practice explores the complex entanglements between artificial intelligence and biological systems, asking how technology shapes our understanding of the more-than-human world. Sofia has a huge interest in biology-inspired technologies. In her series Neural Zoo (2018-2022), she explores how organic life uses artificial systems to simulate itself and evolve, suggesting that technology is not separate from nature, but a biased extension of the organic life that created it. The works feel like fragments of an imagined nature, familiar in texture, yet impossible in form. They conjure worlds the eye almost recognizes, but the mind knows it has never seen. 🌱 The species in Critically Extant by @soficrespo91 🌱 In Critically Extant, Sofia trained models on millions of open-source nature photos covering ~10 000 species. Where data ran thin, the images drift, sometimes recognisable, sometimes uncanny, exposing the gaps in our collective knowledge. First shown as an Instagram exhibition, the work tests whether endangered life can slip into our daily scroll and spark real-world care. The project invites us to build better feedback loops between the digital and the wild: notice, share, and act before these creatures vanish completely. ↓ Below are some of the species featured in the collection, with a few facts about each:
