To create the career I want - I have to create a use case. I have to show the world what I’m imagining in my head. I have to create it in reality so people can see it, hear it, take part, and want to support it. I want to start speaking in to existence what comes next for Sound of Fractures. And it’s not trying to be a new Fred Again or Barry Can’t Swim (not that we don’t all dream of being that successful). I’m actually more inspired by the SAULT live show. Holly Herndon and Mat Dryhurst. Imogen Heap. Elijah. The 180 Studios Reverb Exhibition at the Vinyl Factory. These are things that inspire me to push toward where I want to go next. Alone Together is my new EP and Project, it is going to be an extension of the ethos of SCENES that includes a way for listeners to contribute to the music online, and will also build out beyond that to be my IRL reimagining of an electronic music event. It’s something I’ve been thinking about for a while, and recently the pieces fell into place. This year it’s going to become a reality. #independentartist #creator #immersivemusic #digitalart

Towards the end of the conversation with LA EQUIS we got into something I’m fascinated by —this idea of worlds within worlds. You’re not just making music. You’re designing artwork, building sites, coding tools, running a label, launching products. And then there’s your actual life underneath all of that—the money, the time, the constant shuffling between a mix fee here, a teaching day there, a consultancy thing somewhere else. How this all fits together is really interesting to me, but also how unique the combination of things that make up your life are to each person / musician / creator? It’s not simple to put in a flow flowchart anymore. It’s an ecosystem. And all these things feed each other in ways you don’t expect. New Forms is a podcast series that explores this, just through talking to people find inspiring and interesting. The conversation in full can be watched or listened to on or Substack or YouTube. The idea is to find inspiring people who are building careers on their own terms and in interesting ways and unpack them to inspire others or just to get us through all thinking. Just finished reading Netherland.. and appart from being amazed that anyone could write something so detailed and complex, this line at the end in the interview with the author really hit me. It’s about sport but I think we are heading to a place where the same applies to music
