how to run claude code with gemma 4 completely free (beginner's guide):
this guide shows you how to use claude code completely free with gemma 4, no subscriptions &no api keys.
just your laptop + 15 mins setup.
this lets you run open-source models (like google’s gemma) locally, meaning:
— no costs
— full privacy
what you need before starting, make sure you have:
vs code installed
— node.js (version 18+)
— stable internet (for one-time model download)

step 1: install ollama (the engine)
ollama is what runs ai models locally on your machine.
→ mac:
go to ollama.com/download
click download for mac, open the file and install like any normal app. no terminal needed.
→ windows:
go to ollama.com/download, click download and install
→ linux:
curl -fsSL ollama.com/install.sh | sh
check it worked:
ollama --version

step 2: download gemma 4
this is the ai model you’ll run locally, pick based on your system:
→ low-end (8gb ram):
ollama pull gemma4:e2b
→ recommended (16gb ram):
ollama pull gemma4:e4b
→ high-end (32gb ram):
ollama pull gemma4:26b
⚠️ it’s a big download (7gb–18gb), so give it time.
after download is completed, verify with the command:
ollama list

step 3: install claude code in VS code or any other IDE
this is your interface.
— open vs code
— press ctrl + shift + x
— search claude code
install the one by anthropic
after install → you’ll see a ⚡ icon in sidebar

step 4: connect claude code to ollama
by default, claude connects to the cloud. we’re redirecting it to your local machine.
so do this:
— press ctrl + shift + p
— search: open user settings (json)
— then paste this inside:

what this does:
— it routes everything to your local ollama server.

2. open claude code in vs code

3. select your model

(or whichever you downloaded)
you’re done

Today feels strange. It’s been a year since you left us after so many years of fighting with your health.
When we finally thought things were getting better, Mom and I took a short break. And that’s when you decided to rest. We weren’t there.
Since that day, everything changed. Life lost its meaning, dreams stopped making sense, and happiness just vanished.
It wasn’t just the loss of a father , it felt like I lost the reason to move forward.
I used to have a life ; a girlfriend, our dogs, our family, and a big purpose.
Now, I’ve lost all of that. No girlfriend, doggy is gone, and you’re not here anymore.
At first, I buried myself in trading to forget, to keep my mind busy.
But for months now, I haven’t been able to keep doing that. It doesn’t work anymore.
When it wasn't enough anymore, i decided to bring public challenge, and help people. That way i was still forced to lock in and grind non stop. Guess you would have been proud to see that.
When you were still here, I had two clear goals that drove everything I did in crypto:
To protect the family and make sure we’d never have to worry again , to finally enjoy life fully, free from financial stress..
After you left, I didn’t really have a reason anymore — but I told myself I’d work as hard as I could anyway.
Maybe someday, months or years later, I’d find new meaning.
A year later, in the crypto space, I guess you could say I kind of made it.
I’m now able to help the family the way I always wanted.
And still... something doesn’t feel right.
I keep thinking I’ve lost the one thing that mattered the most: time with the people I loved the most.
So yeah daddy, i'm using this tweet to find a way to heal, to mark a new step, more focus on my own health and to find myself again.
I guess you've seen the shit i've done lately, guess i needed that to touch the bottom and grind back.

First off, thank you all for following along — it’s been a wild and enjoyable ride.
I’ve had some great DMs and exchanges with many of you. Truly appreciate it. 🫶
One of the main goals of this challenge was to demonstrate a trading approach that doesn’t rely on being in alpha groups, having insider info, or gambling your way to a win.
I know shitcoin trading can be mentally taxing — and everyone approaches it differently. Some can take multiple losses or round trips before landing a big win.
I can’t — and that’s okay. There’s no single right way to trade.

So, what’s next?
Still figuring it out.
I’m considering a new challenge with a lower profit factor, to prove you really don’t need much to start.
But at the same time, I don’t want to miss solid opportunities in the final stages of this bull run.
Feel free to comment your ideas or what you’d like to see — I’ll think it through.
In the meantime, I’ll keep posting trades like I always have.

Happy with this journey but even more since i've got my first Ls.
Over the last few weeks, I have to admit that I was finding the challenge less and less appealing because of the 100% win rate.
Having such a high win rate is great for your ego at first, but in the end it adds unnecessary pressure.
Of course I'll continue to have a trading style with a very high WR (I hope), but the fact of being able to take losses more easily will enable me to take a bit more risk when the market allows it and finally accelerate this challenge.
