Yesterday’s important debate on SEND was a chance for Labour to give parents reassurances around SEND and to give answers to MPs. They failed to do so. Is the Education Secretary too busy running for deputy leader to stand up for parents and children?

The economic facts speak for themselves. Since Labour came to power last July: 🔺 Inflation is up 🔺 Unemployment is rising 🔻 Growth is falling 📉 Borrowing and debt are increasing Britain deserves sound economic stewardship, not instability.

Today at #PMQs, I challenged the Prime Minister on his pursuit of closer ties with China. We cannot afford naïveté in the face of authoritarian ambition. Britain must engage with strategic caution, not wishful thinking.

🇺🇦🇺🇸 During my recent visit to Washington with @BritainLeads, I had the honour of meeting @OMarkarova, Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United States, at the Ukrainian Embassy.

The IPPR estimates 25,000 jobs in the UK automotive sector could be lost due to reduced exports to the US. With many of my constituents working at @JLR_News or @astonmartin, this is a source of deep concern. Which is why, earlier on today, I asked the Business Secretary what he is doing to protect jobs.

Since being elected I have called for the UK to develop our own sovereign launch capability. This announcement will strengthen our ability to operate on an autonomous basis - thereby ensuring we are better placed for dealing with emerging global threats.

🏥Visit to brand new Elective Hub at Solihull Hospital 🏥 I was delighted to visit the Elective Hub, funded by the last Government, to meet the team of surgeons and NHS staff who are delivering new procedures with the help of Robotics. Robotic surgeries offer a range of benefits to both surgeons and patients. With increased precision and enhanced dexterity for surgeons, and less invasive procedures with faster recovery for patients. I am confident that the Elective Hub will not only improve the quality of care for patients but also attract and retain top medical talent at Solihull Hospital.

🏥Solihull Hospital hits 1,000th Robotic Surgery milestone🏥 Congratulations to University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust and all its staff on performing its 1,000th robotic surgery. The use of Robotics in combination with the surgeon’s expertise results in more successful and efficient operations. I am delighted that our hospital offers these advanced procedures, which is less invasive for patients and delivers higher success rates. Robotic procedures are taking place in Solihull’s brand-new £45m elective hub, delivered by the last Conservative Government. With an additional secured £3m for Devices, Digital & Robotics. Contrary to Government ministers publicly stating “every single penny” raised from the introduction of VAT on school fees will be ring-fenced for state schools, the Treasury has confirmed the money is not hypothecated. So, not only is this a deeply divisive policy, there is no guarantee that any funds raised will go to state schools. It’s time for Labour to be honest with the British public.
