Bengaluru’s urban planning is in complete disarray under the Congress government.
Where is the mandatory scrutiny and approval from #BMLTA for this project?
Every agency is chasing its own unaccountable infrastructure agenda without any reference to the approved integrated long term mobility plan for Bengaluru.
The five corporations are randomly building flyovers and underpasses. B-SMILE is pushing the ₹42,000 crore car only tunnel project. Now BDA too has entered the fray. There is zero coordination despite the law clearly mandating BMLTA scrutiny and approval.
The justification for the shorter tunnel is that the longer tunnel would take years to complete. And the justification for the longer tunnel is that the short tunnel is insufficient. Clearly not how projects should be approved.
While the Silk Board to Hebbal tunnel matter is before the Hon’ble High Court of Karnataka, the government is now announcing random short tunnels and tolled flyovers without proper approvals.
Bengaluru cannot be governed through whimsical bureaucratic experiments. The state government must empower BMLTA, prepare a comprehensive mobility plan, and execute infrastructure projects within a clear urban vision.
Bengaluru needs infrastructure, but not at the cost of scientific planning, sustainability, and the city’s long term future.
