I'm so tired of lateness being viewed as a moral failing. I've been shamed for it my whole life because it's framed as "disrespect" (and no, it hasn't helped me be more punctual) and if I lost out on a major life opportunity because of it I don't think I could have ever recovered

@dracthegoblin Ok the difference is that you do actually have a decent amount of agency when it comes to how you’re perceived by other people. doesn’t mean you have to do it all on your own or anything, but at some point you do have to make the effort to stop that behavior

A lot of men are like this because they were ugly as kids and grew up as social outcasts. Even after self improvement they’re too socially maladjusted to talk to girls because of their school days. This doesn’t mean the man is abusive. Abusive men get girlfriends rather easily.

@LurkLumar especially because our social networks are not as robust as they used to be. people don’t really get a second chance to be a part of a community after school ends, unless they really go out of their way to do so

going from full time work to uni rather than the more conventional other direction has made me appreciate how unique a time it is for ppl even more. you will never get that combo of free time, lack of responsibility, romantic/platonic options, independence etc etc ever again
