Delhi’s pollution challenge is evolving; Ozone was the lead pollutant on 16 days this February, once mainly a summer issue, now emerging as a year round health risk linked to NOx & VOC emissions from vehicles and industry. timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/delhi/cap…

1. La contaminación del aire se clasifica como dentro de las casas y fuera de ellas. En #México cocinar con leña, carbón y bagazo es la principal fuente de contaminación del aire dentro del hogar. researchgate.net/publication/22…

Delhi’s crisis isn’t just in the air. Its in the water too. Nearly 44% of tested tap water samples failed safety standards, with E. coli detected in several homes. Is drinking water injurious to health for Delhiites too, just like breathing air? @gupta_rekha @PMOIndia @DPCC_Pollution
Jasjeev Gandhiok@JasjeevGandhiok

A week long exercise saw HT collect 18 water samples from across Delhi, finding 8 of these -- all tap water -- had total coliform or e-coli bacteria in it. This indicates sewage is mixing into the drinking water - a troubling scenario, not too long after the Indore tragedy!

Spring should smell like flowers. Gurgaon air smells of dust, smoke, and construction. Residents inhale silica, black carbon, NOx, SOx, CO, PM2.5 (447–500 µg/m³ – Hazardous). No enforcement. No accountability. Citizens choking. Meanwhile, clean air for Punchkula: #39 AQI. What steps will be taken TODAY to improve Gurgaon’s air? Action is needed now. @CAQM_Official @moefcc @PMOIndia @cmohry @CPCB_OFFICIAL @Rao_InderjitS @RaoNarbir #AirPollution #GurgaonHealth #FixAir #Accountability /1

Delhi keeps telling itself the smog is a “winter problem.” But this March, a drone study by @iitdelhi coordinated by Asst. Prof @ahlawat_aa, found a 240,000 kg blanket of toxic PM2.5 hanging above the city, @ 60% worse at 100m than at street level. We’re not breathing cleaner air. We’re just not measuring it properly. A shallow morning boundary layer (sometimes just 50–200m) traps traffic exhaust, waste burning fumes and industrial emissions like a lid. By the time the sun lifts it, the damage is done. Ground monitors miss the full story, the sky above is doing chemistry we barely track. If peak hour traffic makes up 40–50% of PM2.5, sprinklers and “smog towers” won’t cut it. This is a systemic emissions problem, not a visibility problem. Maybe it’s time we stop reacting to winter headlines and start cutting pollution at the source; all year round! @CAQM_Official @CPCB_OFFICIAL @mssirsa

Researchers are calling for expanded drone surveillance to better model Delhi’s air pollution and shift from emergency responses to long-term emission reduction strategies. ✍️@CBhattacharji @CleanAirFund @BotLabDynamics @iitdelhi @NatureMedicine healthpolicy-watch.news/drone-busts-de…

After 17 years, India moves to revise its air quality norms with a final report from IIT Kanpur submitted to CPCB, a crucial step for cleaner air & public health. For years, #WarriorMoms have been demanding to update AQI standards as per #WHOguidelines. Let’s ensure the new norms are brought in with sincerity to protect every breath we and our children take💙 timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/delhi/17-… via @kush_junglee @TOIIndiaNews

According to World Air Quality Report 2021, released by @IQAir, none of the cities in #India meet the @WHO #AQIguidelines; Govt must adopt and revise the #WHOGuidelines urgently to bring back clean air and healthy future for our children!💙 @CPCB_OFFICIAL @CAQM_Official

Microplastics aren’t just on land, they’re now in #Yamuna and Delhi’s groundwater too, showing how deeply plastic pollution has invaded our water systems. A first-of-its-kind, comprehensive study reveals microplastics present in the Yamuna river, open drains, floodplain soil and groundwater across Delhi. Yet rare restrictions or compliances or implementation of single use plastic ban called since 2022. @PMOIndia @CPCB_OFFICIAL @CAQM_Official @mssirsa timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/delhi/how… via @kush_junglee hindustantimes.com/cities/delhi-n… via @JasjeevGandhiok

Air pollution is NOT a winter inconvenience. It’s a year round public health emergency. As mothers, we see the impact in inhalers, chronic coughs & missed school days, not just data charts. CAQM must move beyond seasonal measures to enforceable, health centred, NCR wide action. Our children can’t wait:(

Living with polluted air isn’t just bad for our lungs, it’s increasingly clear it’s bad for our minds too. Study by @iitdelhi show that persistent exposure to fine particles (PM2.5) doesn’t just increase physical health risks but has been linked with higher likelihood of depression and anxiety, likely through chronic inflammation and brain chemical disruptions. Breathing dirty air day after day is a silent stressor that can wear down emotional resilience. Cleaner air is mental wellbeing too! timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/sustaine… via @AnujaJaiswalTOI @timesofindia @MoHFW_INDIA @JPNadda @KVSinghMPGonda @CAQM_Official

Young people struggling with exercise are too often dismissed as “unfit.”
Exercise intolerance can be an early marker of lung disease, even in the young and seemingly healthy. The Lancet has warned of India’s rising burden of chronic respiratory disease, driven largely by air pollution. This demands policy action; cleaner air standards, early screening, and investment in lung health, not just late stage care. @MoHFW_INDIA @JPNadda @ICMRDELHI timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/india-ca… via @AnujaJaiswalTOI @timesofindia

If this news is true, here is my most favourite voice of this era @arijitsingh saying no to playback singing in films! It’s a HUGE loss to Indian cinema. I am sure we would get to hear him in his albums, concerts and at other places. I have never attended a concert as phenomenal as his! He has seldom compromised with his craft. And I guess he has taken a very principled stand, not to subject his art to the commercial circus alone. Arijit Singh is an emotion. And he forever would be

Every individual whose voice is heard needs to say this POLLUTION IN INDIA IS ACUTE & NEEDS URGENT ACTION The AQI map shows most places in the world as green, few yellow spots, a big yellow patch in India & a dark red patch across northern India stretching from Punjab upto WB

At the World Economic Forum in Davos, former IMF chief economist @GitaGopinath was asked about business development in India. Her response was something you’d never have thought of. How did pollution fit into this very important conversation? Watch the clip | @Sonal_MK

Gita Gopinath spoke the reality all of us in India are busy normalising. Pollution will take away everything from us. Our health, our children, our business, our prosperity. Far more damaging than any tariff.
