Nobody actually likes summer. Itโs too hot to do anything & everyone is sweaty & miserable. The only reason we pretend to like it is bc during our adolescence itโs the only time any of us felt real freedom w/o compulsion to spend the majority of waking hours at work or in school.

@PortlandDSA Iโm not trying to be proactive at all and I donโt know Colinโs politics, however he is from the PNW, made his bones in PDX, lived in LA for a long time and recently moved to Chicago for his wife to follow her career dreams. Heโs not afraid of cities.

The โPortland is Dead/Dyingโ crowd is near exclusively people who are in a right wing echo chamber and have a deep, irrational fear of cities.
The small # of locals who talk like this are self-interested, selling a distorted Portland for clicks, and/or right wing ideologues.

PDX economy is in a doom loop. Has been since pandemic (and measure 110 didnโt help cityโs rep) Blazers owner Tom Dundon has been harsh/tacky but PDX gone from your quirky, free spirit cousin to a spiraling family member. NBA expansion fees prob only thing keeping them in town.

@SoothingDave I grew up in Santa Barbara, prior to moving to Portland I never cared about any of this. Living in a place that is overcast and raining 9 months a year has changed my opinion. When it rains all day and is basically dark at 3:30pm, an hour more is a win in my book.
