What if I tell you that one of my best works in 2025 was seriously undercharged. Tbh, It wasn’t the client’s fault, and I wasn’t cheated. It simply came down to not fully understanding the scope of the project. I got the gig through one of my closest design friends. At the time, I was in transit from Abuja to Minna, heading back to school for my final year. The call was noisy, with about four minutes of “can you hear me?” He later texted me that it was a logo project with a budget of 100k, which I was comfortable with at the time. When the client reached out, the conversation subtly shifted from “logo” to “brand design.” Silly me, I didn’t pay enough attention. I only negotiated an additional 20k because the client wanted additional of a brand mascot design as part of the logo suite. After two days, we finalized the deal. We signed the contract via email, and I received my deposit to begin work. It wasn’t until I had explored a few logo sketch options that I realized I was actually building a full brand system. At that point, I already loved the project and didn’t want to make a fuss, so I went ahead and delivered it. Honestly, I enjoyed every bit of the process. It taught me an important lesson. To be more patient when opportunities come, to fully understand the scope, and to agree on compensation that truly reflects the value of the work I deliver. Will share the work soon. 🚧
