#TheBackrooms Had me gripped! Kane Parsons impressively brings to life this liminal horror tale in both a captivating & unsettling way. Loved the film’s entire aesthetic. Ejiofor and Reinsve are great. The lore, while subtle, will leave a lot for fans to chew on. Big fan of this!

Kane Parsons says he spent his senior year of high school deciding between inquiries from the entertainment industry or college applications.

The craziest thing is they even cast a guy who looks like Mark Hamill to stand in on set. He's a graduate of Julliard and an experienced theatre actor. Instead we got wax statue, dead-eyed CGI Luke Skywalker

re: ghost directing discourse, I think a lot of people struggle with the reality that they have aged out of being a wunderkind. if you were the type of person to make a movie at 26, you would've done it. the good news is you can make a movie at 36, or 46, or whenever.

Hmmm, with all due respect I don't remember seeing you on set. When I was there, Kane was 100% in control. More so than many directors 3x his age.

#Backrooms is a spine-tingling debut for Kane Parsons. His restraint and patience as a filmmaker at such a young age is impressive, using wide, open framing and near ceaseless tension to make the audience feel paranoid and wholly uneasy throughout. Ejiofor delivers haunting, top tier work that, coupled with the retro aesthetic and the truly incredible production design, makes for a wonderfully refreshing horror film that swallowed me whole. Safe to say, I’ll never look at furniture the same way again. Full review tomorrow!
