I guess you'd have to see what temp data readings that are available and make sure that this equation holds true within whatever standard deviation across all the time points?? that's generally where all these climate models that the IPCC and all these climate university cranks come up with to predict that the temp is gonna rise 5° in 5 years and beachside suburbs will be the new Atlantis from 10m sea level rises, when you stress-test them against data that actually does exist in a time series they completely break 🤷🏼‍♀️

dunno what this bloke is saying tho, I just read his explanation of the calculus (should've done that first in hindsight) and I can't see how it's quantifying what he says it is, there's a change attribution in there which you'd normally use for accounting for deviation or bias, then a covariance which is usually modelling two variables that are changing together when you don't know the rate of change, plus another differential so that's three separate things it's trying to model that are changing to model a relationship between all 3? going strictly by the mathematics anyways 🤷🏼‍♀️

it looks like an extension of the Price equation? it's usually used in eco-evolutionary models to quantify things like the abundance of specific traits in a species over time and how that impacts population levels in any given environment. I think thats what that equation looks like it's saying, it's calculating the covariance between what id hazard a guess is a genetic trait and its fitness/demographic success and transmission/heritability in certain emvironmental variables using a regression. I think? it's been a long time since I read any quantitative ecology papers in any great depth 🤣
