This is the arrogance of unchecked power—the belief that political authority is permanent and unquestionable. When a senator dismisses a colleague with “She’s not coming back,” it reveals how those in power see governance: not as public service, but as a personal kingdom.
🔹 What does this tell Nigerians?
• Many politicians believe power is theirs to distribute or withhold, rather than something entrusted to them by the people.
• They assume there are no consequences. The system allows impunity because citizens have not structured themselves into a force that holds leaders accountable beyond elections.
• History proves them wrong. No seat is permanent, no political dynasty is unbreakable—but only if people organize strategically, not just react emotionally.
🔹 What’s the lesson?
• Politics must be competitive, not a monopoly. When leaders feel invincible, they act recklessly.
• Nigerians must mobilize beyond outrage. If citizens remain passive, leaders will keep treating power as a birthright.
• Senator Natasha’s treatment is a reminder that speaking up has consequences in a broken system. But with proper civic engagement and structured political mobilization, the cost of silencing dissent can be made too high.
This is why Step Up Naija exists—to shift power back to the people, not those who believe they can decide who “comes back” or not.
