I have a lot of respect for Elon’s engineering knowledge, his vision, and his drive as an entrepreneur. But I have lost almost all respect for him as a commentator on current events, not bc of his political views, but bc of how he chooses to support his side. At best, the now-deleted post that triggered his later comment was extremely careless; at worst, it’s incitement to violence. The argument that he just posts whatever’s on his mind — even not fully considered stuff — is dumb; he’s the most-followed account on 𝕏 and, assuming he’s not an idiot, he knows his posts are hugely influential (which is why he so openly endorses Trump and the Republicans). This kind of post is unacceptable for someone as high-profile as him. He also didn’t apologise for it, he’s instead blaming everyone else for not “getting the joke”. Yeah, people “don’t know the context” bc… no context was provided. Not to mention the timing of this “joke”… 🤦🏻‍♂️ Bottom line: @elonmusk is now a 100% propaganda machine for Trump with close to 0% levels of objectivity, so don’t expect anything reasonable from him until after the elections (and possibly even later). I definitely have zero respect for anyone (including many influencers who rely on his engagement with their posts and desperately want to stay in his good graces) who claims that “people lost their sense of humor”. Pro tip: would your reaction to that post be identical if it came from someone on the opposite side of the political spectrum? If no, then you’re a brain-dead apologist.
