So annoyed by this. And what about regular people in Japan?? What about *their* buying power? Japan imports much of its energy, food, and raw materials. When the yen falls, gasoline, electricity, natural gas, coffee, wheat, cooking oil, smartphones, and other imported products become more expensive. Also, groceries get pricier. Even domestically produced food often relies on imported feed, fertilizer, or fuel. Therefore, supermarket prices tend to rise across the board. Traveling abroad becomes expensive. Japanese tourists get less for their money overseas. And inflation outpaces pay for many workers. While some companies have raised wages, higher living costs are eating into families’ purchasing power.
