I am honored to serve as the 75th Governor of Virginia. It is with a profound sense of duty to all Virginians that I assume the Governorship and pledge myself to work tirelessly on behalf of our Commonwealth — our home.

Many of the bills I’ve signed into law were part of my Affordable Virginia Agenda — my priority proposals to contend with high costs. Much more to come. We’re just getting started.

Virginians deserve to know how a man who was convicted on terrorism charges and spent time in federal prison could carry out the horrific attack at Old Dominion University. As a former intelligence officer, I have serious concerns. A full FBI investigation is vitally important.

Lt. Col. Brandon Shah was killed today in his classroom at Old Dominion University. A devoted ROTC instructor, Lt. Col. Shah didn’t just lead a life of service to our country, he taught and led others to follow that path.

Today, I convened a Unified Readiness Briefing with state and local public safety officials, Virginia National Guard, and private sector partners. We are working proactively to keep Virginia safe. Because responsible leadership requires vigilance, coordination, and preparation.
