1 in every 5 trans Americans will serve in the military. But instead of celebrating that commitment, my Republican colleagues want to demonize the trans community. That's why I'm pushing to ensure military eligibility is about meeting occupational standards, not who you are.

That’s why I’m introducing the Ensuring Military Readiness Not Discrimination Act today to prohibit discrimination in the military, protect trans service members, and ensure that we never go back to harmful policies like Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell or the trans military service ban.

Trans service members have served successfully in the military for decades! As we respond to recruitment and retention challenges, a ban on transgender service members would only worsen those challenges and weaken our military readiness.
