I'm getting so tilted today because there's so many people that literally don't understand what DMA and IOMMU is and what it does and not only do they not realize that but they also fail to understand that maybe they shouldn't be defending or supporting literal malware.

@saampss @SilvaniKillian All you need is a single skill issue for whatever reason... which is very common and vanguard could just crash your system just like that for no reason whatsoever because fun fact. Neither the world or software is perfect and bugs will happpen there for false positives will too.

@saampss @SilvaniKillian This alone could already trigger false positives in Vanguards shitty driver and if you wanted to prevent crashes for some reason if this feature isn't working well you'd literally have to turn off IOMMU And I've not even mentioned the performance impact that it could have

@fdcbabcdf @SilvaniKillian Some laptops will literally just be capped to the base processor speed and not dare to turbo because they don't know that they are allowed to use more than minimum power. Which is why on older AMD Ryzen laptops your CPU would default to 0.4GHz to protect itself.

@agam_neto @frantz_willian Meu pc tem uma Gtx 960, 32gb de ram e uma Ryzen 5 3600. assim, o problema ta como você otimizou seu computador, não o vanguard. o vanguard pode até ser invasivo, mas eu tive que ativar o IOMMU de qualquer jeito ( porque o fortnite por exemplo Pede ele pra jogar campeonato. )

Apesar de eu não trabalhar mais na Riot (2021 ~ 2025), adoro desmistificar os folclores que a comunidade gera em cima desse assunto em específico, então vou frisar algumas coisas aqui em cima de comentários e publicações que vi sobre este tema: Essa atualização não vai quebrar sua máquina, na real, ela nem mexe no hardware, a Riot já utiliza mecanismos da Microsoft/Windows desde 2022, e esse é só mais um deles, a grande diferença é que agora o Vanguard irá invalidar acesso desses dispositivos maliciosos direto no sistema operacional, através do mecanismo do IOMMU. Outro ponto muito importante, isso é um dos sistemas de ultimo recurso da Riot, e como diz o bom ditado, não vale a pena usar uma bazuca pra matar uma formiga, então eu diria de forma otimista que 95% das contas do Valorant nunca sequer chegarão perto de ativar esse sistema, pois ele demanda restrições específicas, que só são engatilhadas quando o perfil suspeito já possui histórico com cheating. E por ultimo e mais importante ainda, percebe como eu só citei Valorant neste texto? Sim, este sistema possui o foco no Valorant, se você só joga o seu jogo de fadinha, ai mesmo que você não vai nem ver a pontinha do foguete... Ou seja, e a sua placa de audio de procedência duvidosa vindo da China? não, ela não vai ativar um falso positivo que irá explodir seu pc, e seus dados não estão sendo vendidos no mercado negro!

@fdcbabcdf @SilvaniKillian Considering many gaming laptops have broken firmware they also tend to have broken drivers which are used to talk to the EC's which literally sometimes are used to control the thermal systems... Which without that functioning could literally prematurely destroy hardware

@AvoidTheWoke @SilvaniKillian Are you stupid? You are aware it's also used for internal microcontrollers inside laptops where EC drivers use it to talk to the hardware such as setting custom thermal curves, rgb and more? A lot of stuff runs over DMA so you're going to get false positives

@SilvaniKillian nothing, because it's quite literally impossible, because it directly detects the DMA device that was used to cheat and blocks it from accessing memory, it's impossible to do anything to do your PC this way if you don't already have a cheat DMA plugged into your PC
