Thinking about how an elder curator once told me I’d never get a curatorial job because I didn’t go to oxbridge or the courtauld and I’m ending 2024 as a curator at Tate. Ambition fuelled by spite is the best kind.

This would effectively cut off a woman’s last route to further education in the country. This year somebody I really cared about decided to cut me out of their life with no explanation or reason. It's a heartbreaking thing to happen. A friend, someone you have shared private things with just disappearing on you. But makes me grateful for the friendships I do have.

Tried to go out. Ended up having horrific gall bladder pain on top of normal pain and had to go outside and throw up. I’m so fucking embarrassed I want to die, everyone thinks I was pissed (I wasn’t) I just want to be in a room alone and paint. No more outside.

The Taliban has banned women from speaking to one another. Khalid Hanafi, Taliban’s minister for virtue and vice, declared it forbidden for adult women to let their voices be heard by other women, further restricting existing bans on speaking and showing their faces in public.

Even more devastating is this: a few minutes ago, the Israeli tanks fired a shell at the oxygen station at the Kamal Odwan Hospital and many injured children got killed. It’s essential to know that this hospital is mainly a children’s hospital.
