personal update after a 3.5‑year ride as part of the mantle founding team, i’m stepping back from day‑to‑day. (click "show more" to read the longest stream of consciousness i've tweeted, full of emotional alpha, deep lore, and trauma bonding) working at mantle has been the most meaningful thing i've done in my life. if you trusted, supported, challenged, or believed in me--thank you. (brace yourself for a dm rampage) i did just about every role imaginable: > started as an EIR > became chief of staff > interim product & design lead > head of devrel > head of bd also did grants, builder residencies, founder support, crisis triage, hack recovery, and various janitorial duties (like cleaning toilets, literally) a lot of brain damage. but good kind of brain damage. the kind that made me grow coming from a smol, insignificant piece of a giant big tech/FAANG machinery, working on an autopilot, mantle gave me something completely different. i was thrown to the wolves. i was in the trenches. most days i was learning on the fly, making it up as i went. i had a front row seat (and sometimes the steering wheel). and i'm forever grateful for the challenge and the trust of the team. here's just some of the lore: > started as a wild R&D lab in 2021 (yes, we blew up a lamborghini with an anon artist, iykyk) > built a dozen+ of onchain products/MVPs (most never launched, too early. some would crush today) > threw "wet lab" rave in bklyn in 2022 (were you there?) > launched a ton of failed initiatives.. i don't want to talk about it... > hit a crisis moment with internal incubation not working and market crashing.. completely reorging the team... (pain) > launched sozu haus, home for the most cracked builders > got pilled on eigenlayer in 2022 and proposed launching next‑gen L2 on Ethereum (soon-to-be largest ZK L2 thanks to succinct SP1) > grew the largest liquid DAO-led treasury to $4B+ > turned mETH into one of top ETH LST/LRTs > recently launched FBTC, MI4, and many other initiatives (the team keeps cooking!) i'm tearing up thinking about everyone involved, where we came from, and what we've pulled off. so why step down? lately i've felt... stagnant. it's not a good feeling and it's not me. i find myself craving for new challenges and personal growth, and thankfully the timing is right: the team we've built is full of killers and i've succeeded in making myself redundant. also 3.5 years in crypto is equivalent to 100 years in tech. so... it's time to pass the mantle (lol sorry) don't worry: i'll keep driving @sozuhaus because it's way too meaningful to let go. and i’ll stay on as an active advisor supporting all mantle business units. mantle is home. you can't get rid of me. i'll stay in the basement if i need to. so what's next? grow the pie i don't want to rest. i'm on a mission to support projects who bring new users, capital, and real innovation into crypto. i will also continue fighting against the garbage that this industry promotes, because i'm an idealist and i still think this tech (alongside AI) is the most important innovation of our generation. we owe it to the world to get this right. i also want ethereum to win and i know i can do more to help. i'm in war mode. excited and energized. and my best work is still ahead. some very special thank yous: @zeroxjohn – for taking the leap of faith at just 16yo and proving to be one of the most talented builders in the team. everyone loves john @kellykim_xyz – for the creativity and energy in managing builder programs, for amazing videos and interviews, and for never showing any signs of stress even when shit hits the fan @benmenontweet – for becoming a latino (and honestly just an amazing cheerleader for ecosystem teams, probably the most active TG wrangler) @ikbenhan – for the sensibility and care around all things culture (i can't believe how many people dm'd me congratulating for hiring you, lol. you have a lot of fans in the industry) @ricematcha – for being an absolute powerhouse and taking leadership and initiative, managing tough situations and selflessly working even during OOO just to save other people's asses @0xGeezee – for his energy and vision in all things gaming. i feel like any time gaming is discussed these days, geezee's name is thrown as one of the leaders and visionaries in the space @Defi_Maestro – for masterminding a lot of the defi strategy on mantle, and recently taking a massive role in driving mETH. ive learned so much from ed. mantle is so lucky to have him and ed is an amazing example for how a good trader can become an amazing builder. @0xGabe_ – for being the most stable and humble backbone of all things mantle defi. cannot think of a more reliable teammate. i want to be like gabe when i grow up @speicherx – for reminding us how a single person can drive massive change both internally and externally. one of the rockstar hires. knew from the first 5mins of talking to her that she's gonna be a killer @Donmario – for being one of the OG members and going through all the trials and tribulations with me. the best PM ive ever worked with and just the most humble person around. kocham cię, big dog @dao_lbrian – for the hours we've spent on TG calls and always hearing me out and supporting in the last 3+ years. one of the OG team members who is so professional and just so good at EVERYTHING he does. ive always nudged all functional teams to talk to lbrian as often as possible because of his DEEP insights on retail users and community @tyxfran – for running the most operationally excellent team in the company and juggling an insane amount of projects without ever complaining @Gem3a – for being an exceptional community builder and not being afraid to propose creative initiatives and events + topping the mantle yap boards @IgneusTerrenus – for being one of the most EXCEPTIONAL humans, showing us what excellence looks like (he's gonna hate how i wrote this post) @afk0b – for teaching me so much about how all this stuff works, never making me feel dumb despite my idiotic questions, and being one of the most well-rounded, talented people i've ever met. and ofc for helping us start sozu with the legend @doctorgm_01123 (i'll have to write a whole appreciation thread about doctor gm) @libevm – for being one of the most charming, interesting, creative, skilled, and humble builders in the industry and helping with sozu haus over the years @SHL0MS – for letting me ride in the lamborghini before blowing it up as a conceptual art piece to ridicule the cliche crypto dream @0xPenryn – for being the one of the most creative problem-solvers i've ever worked with and always figuring out how to do the impossible (like retrofitting a record player into a perfect lazy susan) @jacobc_eth – for originally leading the way with his L2 vision and for being an incredible friend and role model for me. jacob is one of the most high integrity people in this industry @NTBro – for drinking from the firehose like a champ and quickly getting up to speed + continuing to take care of the team i've built (i love this team) @gametheorizing – for his alchemy, clarity, and deep strategic mind. jordi sees the game a few layers deeper than most, and it has been an honor to work beside him and learn from him cole (did he delete his twitter?!) - for being an absolute maniac and creative genius and for his amazing cat uni thank you to the leadership team, ops, people, engineering teams, everyone who ever reported to me, and all those i rudely forgot from this list for letting me serve you throughout all these years. and last but not least: @taggaOyl – for seeing something in me back in 2021 and convincing me to go all in on crypto, join the team, and build a dream. for driving the org before mantle existed and taking a ton of risk and letting us cook. i would not be who i am today without Alec. man.. thank you. if you're still reading this, you are probably crazy and i love you for it. if you're cooking something exciting, breaking rules,
