Deadass a timer. Just have the player have a stopwatch that they have to keep resetting and with little environmental flickers of things that pop up if the timer runs out or say your path goes right back to the beginning. That could last a WHILE while stressing you out.

To expand on this I've noticed a lot of the time IGN's reviews that are dogshit are due to their reviewers going outside of games they like or understand. They genuinely need to set up where when they review games it's by a reviewer who understands the genera and HOW to review it
