@guessingdame I appreciate the fact that they don't have to bring attention to it. There's no need to have a moment where Rouge is surprised he caught her and Shadow says a line like "Hmph, I didn't do it for you." You can just have Shadow do things without being obnoxious about it.

I love how much Shadow and Rouge cared for one another in Sonic '06.
Shadow caught Rouge when he could have instead retrieved the Scepter of Darkness. You can say it's because his "mission" was retrieving Rouge, but...
Rouge calls out to Shadow when danger is sensed. 🥺🥹

@spinball12 Thank you. Yep advance 1 amy is a genuine hard mode with a complex moveset that allows for cool and creative manoeuvring through a level. Which is especially cool since it represents amy's difficulty keeping up with team sonic despite not being as fast.

Good arguments for the concept: Sonic facing vulnerability in a seemingly impossible situation. This also shows the crux of people's issue: Execution. Art and dialouge can make or break a scene for many. Barnes and Blade of Courage show a blueprint for a cleaner alternative imo

No offense but imo the argument doesn't work here, because this isn't putting Sonic (and the rest of the cast) in an unusual narrative and seeing how they would react in this situation
Instead it's the characters being changed to fit into character+

What #IDWSonic does that seems to break certain people's brains is that it puts Sonic characters into situations they simply never find themselves in in the games. So when characters have a remotely understandable reaction to these events, it's "out of character."

There are characters other than Sonic that can fulfill the roles that we’re giving to him better because it would align with their character more. Sonic doesn’t need to be the driving force for character tension in a story if it’s going to go against his character.

@XDAmzTUJ8D85693 @PersonthePerso2 You had me at Trip/j. While I didn't really care for him preboot Archie's last few issues I'd be down for a character like him for a Knuckles game. Maybe even use a Nocturnis/ Dark Legion stand in.

@spinball12 @PersonthePerso2 Honestly, I think the villain Ian suggested, the Tasmanian Devil, could become a formidable nemesis like his King K. Rool, if done well. Like Eggman to Sonic, or Bowser to Mario.
Also, it seems like it would be easy to explore his bond with Trip in more depth.

The wedding subplot is bad yeah but I would take 5 of those over making the character who’s sole existence is militarizing his people and committing genocide into someone your supposed to like lol

@XDAmzTUJ8D85693 @PersonthePerso2 He basically had that status in the Archie comics for a couple year funnily enough. Wouldn't recommend touching the Knuckles comic or the Knuckles B-story stuff with a ten inch pole though.
