One of the most fascinating aspects of Hathaway’s Flash is how it inverts the Amuro-Char dynamic from Char’s Counterattack, this time between Hathaway and Lane. Hathaway deliberately chooses Char’s path (as referenced in novel volume 1), while Lane inadvertently follows Amuro’s. Murase builds on this brilliantly by expanding Lane’s perspective and having Hathaway mentally confront Amuro in his place, all while reciting Char’s ideology. Like Amuro and Char, the two agree on the corrupt system yet stand on opposing sides of justice.
