'Sally' will have a Western New York accent and will teach 11th and 12th-grade students at Salamanca High School. The robot has brown hair, and can move its arms and legs, but will not be able to walk around the classroom. Can someone please explain to me like I'm 10 years old because I genuinely do not understand. My kid's school asked me to donate supplies this year. Paper. Pencils. Hand sanitizer. Tissues. I pay property taxes. My state has a $4 billion surplus. The federal education budget is $238 billion. The teacher is buying pencils out of her own paycheck. I'm sending in Ziploc bags. We just approved $900 million in public money for a new NFL stadium. We fund billionaires with tax dollars and fund schools with bake sales. Then we blame the teachers when the test scores drop. Then we blame the kids when they fall behind. The we blame the parents for not being involved enought. Everyone gets blamed except the people who decided pencils weren't worth funding. Why is it always like that?

I don’t care how “efficient” the private sector is. Some services should never be run as businesses. Health care. Water. Electricity. Gas. Prisons. If a company makes more money when people get sicker, stay locked up longer, or have no choice but to pay, that’s a system built on conflicting interests.
