Bank of England refuses to cut interest rates because inflation rising again. Downgrades growth outlook for the last three months of this year to zero, from previous prediction of 0.3 per cent.
Cost of ten-year borrowing for the Government at just over 4.5 per cent, over double what it costs Germany to raise money in global debt markets and far higher than France — even though both are in political crisis.
Far from meeting its pledge for UK to become fastest growing economy in G7, Labour’s current main challenge is to avoid recession.

@MasterClass be careful anyone thinking of falling for the 50% off Black Friday deal. I did last year but wasn’t for me. Without warning full price for this year taken from account. No reply to my objection despite telling them on the day of renewal I do not want it.

My mum’s book group read @DrMichaelMosley’s Just One Thing recently and one of them produced this summary of his brilliant, sensible, achievable advice (that we could all benefit from following!) #MichaelMosley #RIPMichaelMosley

@virginmedia It showed no outage on Mon when problem arose. Tech visit next available Thurs, booked it. You cancelled tech visit. This is DAY FOUR no WiFi or TV, £150 monthly. Shocking service, a joke.

@Daily_Express Virgin Media has had complete outage in our part of London since early morning. Almost £150 a month no service or update since 10am. Our technician booking (Thurs next appt) cancelled because network fault. Not happy.

@Selfridges trying but failing to get through to customer service by email and phone for days. You have taken 3 payments from my credit card, yet inexplicably cancelled my order in transit. To add insult to injury you have refunded me $280 less than I had paid. Pls help.
English

@pinkrose3bd @Selfridges I am having the same issue. Inexplicably cancelled my order yet refunded only in part. No one answering emails or telephone.

@BenKentish @LBC So they cannot have any idea what the true number of cases is. Terrifying.
English

NEW: No Covid-19 tests at all have been available in much of London all day today, LBC understands. This is the message being given to people with symptoms trying to get tested in the capital. They've been trying throughout the day. More on @lbc at 7.

@sandrapeterso18 @ucas_online @nuhaakc Same. Utter chaos. Heartbreaking. Students who should be excited about their next steps are instead facing uncertainty and huge stress due to the unforgivable delay in recognizing the algorithm stuff up. Shame on Gavin Williamson and Ofqual, they had months to sort this.
English

@ucas_online @nuhaakc We are in exactly the same position! So @ucas_online are you saying that all firm choices should email prospective students?
English

@Sime0nStylites Centre Assessed Grades only way of giving this badly let down year a chance to rescue university places.
English

@halfon4harlowMP please please help the 1000s of distraught students and their anxious parents by accepting Centre Assessed Grades as the A level results this year. Not a perfect solution but far better than the current mess which has left so many in limbo.
English

@ToonLawyer We have to remain furious until this is fixed. How can Scotland do the right thing and England & Wales not?
English

@LillzTrackLife Which is exactly why I choose the option to re-sit year 13. Nobody was actually deeping the grades the government gave us, like what are we meant to do with this ? It was a difficult decision to make I’m still 50/50 but if my appeal doesn’t boost my grades I have no option.
English

@AdamAfriyie Anything to say about the A level shambles which has left so many of your constituents and their children distraught? And please don’t suggest the algorithm was ‘robust’.
English

Good to see Peascod Street, Windsor, pretty busy this morning. Managed to get my phone’s screen fixed & urge you to support our local businesses if able. The more people shopping, the more jobs & livelihoods supported #shoplocal #savejobs

@IanMaher7 Well said. Sadly the chaos means many universities are acting like rabbits in headlights. Devastating for the students involved.
