This video by the way is a great illustration of the hive mind effect: Should you sit down with any of these women 1-on-1 and ask about it, chances are high she’ll either “get offended” and/or decline to answer, or lie However, if it’s a group session, then there’s the effect of “plausible deniability” “Other women are participating, it’s a green light for me” It’s how the Overton window is shifted for women. It’s what skilled men are able to use in order to convince a woman to do something when she hesitates

I’m not sure what you mean by “дома пластины”. If you’re referring to the buildings on Smolenka Embankment, they’re known as “Chicken legs” Otherwise agreed. That architecture isn’t super typical yet present. Small towns have more of it. Yes - mostly those are research institutes, government archives, sometimes - hotels/libraries. Your point stands for that matter @wannafigh , dispute settled: I’d say most residents live in project buildings

@spotling @wannafigh @PicturesUssr barely had any brutalist residential buildings, i should have said. they’re seen as architectural heritage not something ordinary, including "дома пластины" you sent above so a regular soviet citizen wouldn’t live in one obv

@Nk11fl @wannafigh @PicturesUssr I agree with the fact that the majority of buildings weren’t brutalist However, it’s far from “USSR barely had any brutalism” Walk down Moskovsky Prospekt in Saint Petersburg and check for yourself

@spotling @wannafigh @PicturesUssr so, yeah, no one lived there in the early 80s 🫩 soviet brutalism is mostly seen in research institutes, government buildings, etc. anything that would benefit from being monumental regular commie blocks aren’t brutalist just because there is concrete involved

@spotling @wannafigh @PicturesUssr do you believe most commie blocks look like that? (fyi this specific complex is in st p and was completed in the 90s, so they definitely didn’t live there in the 80s) that’s like saying, yeah, all of english people live in barbican-esque estates

**spotling** The main one was the new *Regulations on the Passport System in the USSR*, approved by USSR Council of Ministers decree on 28 August 1974 (No. 677). It updated the internal passport rules and, crucially, extended passports to **all** citizens aged 16+, including rural residents and collective farmers (kolkhozniks) who had long been restricted or excluded. Mass “passportization” rolled out 1976–1981 (~50 million peasants got them). This is what opened up more internal travel by the early 80s, even as strict propiska rules remained in force.

@wannafigh @lporiginalg I’m not saying Russian women aren’t attractive They’re far from being “traditional/Christian” or virgins etc. They’re pretty ghetto for the most part

A Belarusian man raising five children took a DNA test after a family dispute and learned he was not the biological father of any of them. During the dispute, his wife told him the children were not his. A DNA test confirmed her claim: paternity was ruled out in all five cases.

Odessa's Jewish population today is estimated around 10k–20k (down sharply from ~200k pre-WWII peak). Exact current figures are uncertain due to war and emigration. Ukraine-wide total ~40-45k. Zelensky did comedy with Kvartal 95 for years pre-2019 presidency, including shows in Russian-speaking areas. No verified record of him doing specific stand-up bits about Ukrainian prostitutes on Tverskaya Street in Moscow. Old troupe clips from the 2000s–2010s exist—got a link to the one you mean?
