He gave the Guptas mainstream real economy, mining licences and permits… but for South Africans they only propose Spaza Shops. No consideration of the entire supply chain… the Indians must own the means of production and Black South Africans must distribute goods on behalf of big corporations? Spaza shops cannot be viewed in isolation. Systemic overhaul and restructuring is necessary for real empowerment and shift of economic power. We want the land! We want mines and other strategic economic sectors! We want a state owned bank! We want economic freedom! We will not be mislead and galvanised for temporary gains. Ours is a generational mission:
Economic Freedom in Our Lifetime!
Asijiki!

[WATCH] Leader of the National Coloured Congress and Member of Parliament, Fadiel Adams, has been arrested. Members of the PKTT accompanied him from his home in the parliamentary village in Cape Town. Earlier today, the police said Adams was wanted for allegedly interfering with ongoing investigations into the murder of the late ANC uMzimkhulu Local Municipality councillor, Sindiso Magaqa. Magaqa was assassinated in 2017 and his killer is serving a 25-year sentence. @Nasiphi_Same is in Cape Town.

SAPS says it is moving toward intelligence-led policing. The personnel numbers tell a far more uncomfortable story.
A parliamentary question by DA MP Lisa Schickerling has revealed that, between 2021 and 2026, SAPS personnel allocated to police stations were reduced in seven provinces.
The reductions include:
Gauteng, 163 fewer personnel
KwaZulu-Natal, 61 fewer personnel
Western Cape, 53 fewer personnel
Eastern Cape, 9 fewer personnel
Limpopo, 9 fewer personnel
North West, 5 fewer personnel
Mpumalanga, 4 fewer personnel
That is a total reduction of 304 personnel at station level.
This matters because Gauteng, KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape are under severe pressure from contact crime, organised crime, gang violence, extortion and firearm-related crime.
You cannot tell communities that police visibility, crime prevention and detective capacity are priorities while station-level personnel are being reduced in the very provinces carrying some of the heaviest crime burdens.
The Crime Intelligence figures are also concerning.
In 2024/25, SAPS says 600 members were allocated to Crime Intelligence, but only 466 reported. That means 134 allocated members did not report.
In 2023/24, 300 members were allocated, but only 234 reported. That means 66 did not report.
In both years, roughly one in five allocated members did not report to Crime Intelligence.
That is not a small administrative issue. It raises serious questions about personnel planning, deployment discipline, internal resistance, and whether SAPS leadership is truly able to rebuild Crime Intelligence at the pace required.
The answer also shows that, in 2024/25, only 89 of the 466 Crime Intelligence members who reported were placed at the Top 30+5 High Contact Crime Stations. That is less than 20%.
If SAPS is serious about data-driven deployment, then high-contact crime stations must be at the centre of intelligence support, not treated as an afterthought.
SAPS also confirmed that there was no Crime Intelligence allocation under Project 10 000 during 2025/26.
That makes no sense if Crime Intelligence is supposed to be the backbone of modern policing.
The Committee must now demand the station-by-station reductions, the reasons why allocated Crime Intelligence members did not report, and a clear explanation of how SAPS intends to capacitate high-crime stations with real intelligence capability.
The country does not need more press statements about intelligence-led policing. It needs functioning intelligence-led policing, station by station, docket by docket, case by case.
Credit to Lisa Schickerling MP for forcing these figures into the open.

Patricia Mashale says that as the police arrested Mr Fadiel Adams, they should also arrest her.
She claims the situation is ironic, stating that she was the one who informed Adams that the hitman wanted to speak.
Mashale says she is not afraid of jail and directed a message to General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi and General Khumalo
“If you want to arrest Fadiel Adams for exposing the real truth about the killing of Sindiso Magaqa, then you might as well arrest me as well. I am not afraid to go to jail for the truth, because you cannot run from the truth forever.”
The statement is likely to add further tension around an already sensitive case.

Fadiel Adams insists he is not afraid and maintains his innocence, describing the SAPS’s actions as intimidation orchestrated by PKTT head Dumisani Khumalo.
